Data frame transpose
Hi All,
I want to ask if there is a transpose function for data frame like the
procedure of transpose in SAS? Because I want to partially transpose a
data frame which contains 5 columns (siteid, date, time, obs, mod), what
I want to do is to put time as the column variables along with siteid,
and date, and put obs and mod in the row names. specifically to
transpose a data frame:
siteid date

help with for loop: new column giving count of observation for each SITEID
Hello,
I think this is easy, but I can't seem to find a good way to do this in the R help. I have a list of sites, with multiple years of data for each site id. I want to create a new column that gives a number describing whether it is the 1st year ("1" ) the data was collected for the site, the second year ("2"), etc. I have different years for each siteid, but I don't

Code:

Reading txt file in R to run Random Intercept Model
I am using a random intercept model with SITEID as random and NAUSEA as

Thanks.

I tried using a dataset without missing values and changed my model
statement accordingly but still get the same error. Follwoing in an excerpt.

using complete.cases() with nested factors
Hello,
This maybe a newbie question. I have a dataframe that looks like the sample
at the bottom of the email. I have monthly precipitation data from several
sites over several years. For each site, I need to extract years that have
a complete series of 12 monthly precipitation values, while excluding that
year for sites with incomplete data. I can't figure out how to do this
gracefully

change url based on account name
Hi,
Is this possible
Can I specify a url ie
http://localhost/AccountName/:contorller/:action/:id
Where AccountName is should be a userName, which will lookup a siteId in
the database?
Whats the best way of going about this, is there somthing in the
routes.rb file I can change to get the account name into a variable?
Thanks for your help

replacement has length zero
I have been working on the following code but keep getting an err message. My
current thinking is that the problem is on the indexing but do not know how
to fix it. Any help please?

ungulate <-
as.matrix(ungulate);colnames(ungulate)<-NULL;rownames(ungulate)<-NULL
habitat <- read.csv("Ungulate_vegetation.csv")

Specifying geographic related facts
Let''s say I have two different geographic sites. They are pretty much
identical ie. each site has a machine called web1 which is a web server,
etc. Except there are couple site-specific settings ie. outgoing DNS
servers are different, SSL certs are different etc.
On the puppetmaster I can put in a file called e.g.
/etc/sideid
which would uniquely identify a site ie. siteX or siteY.

R lmer with problem of 'sd slot has negative entries'
Dear R Users,
I want to fit GLMM with lmer with binomial data and a one-way random
effects model with an overall mean and random effects. From R help,
Laplace is slower than PQL, but more accurate. When I fit my model with
Laplace method with
control = list (usePQL = FALSE)),
for most data sets it works well, but for some I get an error message
(Error in if (any(sd < 0))

lmer giving negative, or no, estimated standard errors
R Users,
Emine Bayman sent this out earlier and we do not think it went through.
Appologies if it did.
We want to fit GLMM with lmer with binomial data and a one-way random
effects model (overall mean is a fixed effect and there are random
effects for each binomial).
We are using the Laplace method. We are simulating multiple data sets
and use the
Laplace method with control = list

SOAP client in Ruby/Rails
Hi all. I have a need to build a SOAP client using Ruby and Rails. I''m
accessing a document/literal style SOAP service. I''ve been poring over
documentation (well, there really doesn''t seem to be any, so that''s a
little misleading), blog posts, and outdated tutorials all day, and I
still don''t really have anywhere to begin. Every tutorial seems to

independence of censoring in survival analyses
Dear all
(not an R question per se, but given that the Real pRo's are all heRe I hope
you foRgive)
survival analyses assume that censoring is independent of hazard etc (eg,
MASS
4th ed, pg. 354).
Is there a standard test for this assumption?
If there is not, what would you do to examine it empirically? (over and
above
some thinking about how censoring might be related to baseline factors).

I'm working on the codes below however every time I run them when they get

array upper bound for hab.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

loglikelihood and lmer
Dear R users,
I am estimating Poisson mixed models using glmmPQL
(MASS) and lmer (lme4). We know that glmmPQL do not
provide the correct loglikelihood for such models (it
gives the loglike of a 'pseudo' or working linear
mixed model). I would like to know how the loglike is
calculated by lmer.
A minor question is: why do glmmPQL and lmer give
different degrees-of-freedom for the same

R crash with modified lmer code
Hi all,
I've now got a problem with some modified lmer code (function lmer1
pasted at end) - I've made only three changes to the lmer code (marked),
and I'm not really looking for comments on this function, but would like
to know why execution of the following commands that use it almost
invariably (but not quite predictably) leads to the R session
terminating.
Here's the command

mixed effect-models
Hello,
?
I believe that in R, it is not possible to analyze mixed effect-models
when the distribucion is not gaussian (p.e. binomial or poisson), isn't?
?
Somebody can suggest me alternative?
?
thanks
