Limit number of connections
Hello again, I have a router/nat linux box. I managed to create some HTB classes and everything is OK. When perople are usig download managers like FlashGet and DAP (multiple connection ones), the ceil limiting works okay, but the rate parameter is somehow useles... The guaranteed bandwidth is never reached. So what can I do to limit the number of connections/computer? I want to make sure that

pseudo-R2 or GOF for regression trees?
Hello, Is there an accepted way to convey, for regression trees, something akin to R-squared? I'm developing regression trees for a continuous y variable and I'd like to say how well they are doing. In particular, I'm analyzing the results of a simulation model having highly non-linear behavior, and asking what characteristics of the inputs are related to a particular

Loop device performance
Hello, I have a production script that do read operations to a lot of small files. I read that one can gain performance boost with small files by using a loop device on top of Lustre. So a created 500 GB file striped across all of my OSTs(which are 8). I formatted the file with ext2 fs, and mounted it on a client. Just for the sake of testing a simple bash script finds all files with a given file

Raid on centos
Ok I've a HP mircoserver that I'm building up. It's got 4 bays for be used for data that I'm considering setup up woth softwere raid (mdadm) I've 2 x 2TB 2 x 2.5 TB and 2 x 1TB, I'm leaning towards usig the 4 2.x TB is a raid 5 array to get 6TB. Now the data is on the 2.5TB disks currently. So the plan so far. Building the array as a degraded raid 5 with the 2 x 2TB

Re: [Serusers] ser+asterisk - security
Do some reading about contexts in *. Basically, you want all "public" sip requests to land in a dialplan context that has no access to PSTN, and requests from your own SER box(es) to land in another context (that DOES have access to PSTN). You can achieve this by adding an entry to your sip.conf for your SER box with it's IP address (and context) specified. ----- Original

Using Asterisk/callerid with "pay as you go"
If you asked this question on the biz list you would get a lot of people that will tell you that they offer services where you can set the caller ID to what ever you want. how to fix a factor
Hi all, I created a data frame with three factors, plus the response that looks like this: x1 x2 x3 y a 1 1 0.3 a 2 1 0.1 b 1 1 0.4 c 4 3 0.1 ... I would like to analise the effect of two of them, keeping the third fixed (I already know the effect of the last). The reason why I don't create several data frames for each value of the thirs factor is simply convenience (I'd like to be able

Advice on picking a regression method
Dear R-users, There are tons of methods out there for fitting independant variables to a dependent variable. All stats books tell you about the assumptions behind OLS (ordinary least squares) and warn against abusive use of the method (which many of us do disregard by lack of a better knowledge). Most introductory text books stop there and don't tell you what the next best option might be. I
