install R under suse: packages dependency
Hi all
I'm trying to install R 2.3.0 under Suse 10.0. As I'm using SSH to login
into the SUSE server, I can't use YAST2, so I have to use rpm -i in the
shell. The system tells me that I need some other packages such as
xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi, blas, libgfortran.so.0(). Is there some website
where I can download and install these packages? Thanks a lot!

problem with location of libraries 64-bit (opensuse)
Dear list,
there seems to be a problem with the standard location of R?s 64-bit libs
at least under openSUSE.
I had two user questions regarding the compilation of rpy2 for 64-bit systems.
Personally I don`t know rpy2 but maybe someone on this list can decide if
the mistake lies on R`s side or on rpy2?s side or in between.
R-devel is installed in these cases, I asked. Latest R-base or

suse 10.0
I downloaded the free CD's and installed Suse 10.0. When I tried to install
the latest RPM for R, the Yast installer complained that two files were
missing. I was told that I can install from the internet, and started the
process, but found I must supply the name of the server and the name of the
directory. I tried several combinations unsuccessfully. Can anyone help me?

I am surprised (and a little irritated)
I have started with using R on Windows, and I am really happy about
the system. Now, one of my other ambitions is to learn how to use
Linux, so yesterday I downloaded OpenSuse and installed that. The
next problem was to try to use R with Linux. And there I met the
wall. I've understood that RPM's are somewhat like installing
programs on Windows, so that was downloaded and started

Problems installing R 2.1.1. from rpm (R-base-2.2.0-1.i586.rpm) on SuSE 10
Hi
I have problems installing R 2.1.1. from rpm (R-base-2.2.0-1.i586.rpm)
on SuSE 10. It installs fine, all dependances are OK (at least Yast does
not complain) but when I try to run R, it gives the following error message:
symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libblas.so.3: undefined symbol:
_gfortran_filename
and R quits.
blas version: 3.0-926
Any help appreciated,
Rainer

SUSE 10.1 64 bit binary
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone had created a 64 bit binary for SUSE 10.1
x86_64 yet. Unfortunately, I upgraded before looking whether a package
was available and now cannot find a suitable package on CRAN. If noone
has produced one yet, does anyone have any idea when one will be available?
Many Thanks

Samba Guide, SuSe and Yast
Hi,
I'm using SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 9.
I've setup a Samba/LDAP solution according to ch5 of the Samba Guide.
It's working - that's great :-)
Now I'd like to know if anyone tried to manage the users database using
tools provided by Yast.
Is there a risk to mess up everything ?
Did anyone try that before ?
Thanks for your help,
Olivier Thibaut.

Hi,
I'm not sure if the real English warning is the same. I translated it
from German. R came up with the following message:

wine-20050211 on SuSE 9.2
I am trying to install wine-20050211 on my second system, which runs
SuSE 9.2. After much faffing around I finally managed to download and
install bison, which allowed ./config to complete. A warning at the end
advised me to install xlib-devel or xfree86-devel. Googling around I
found the RPM for XFree86-devel for SuSE 9.1 so I downloaded it and
started to install it. Unfortunately, a

Login incorrect problem (SUSE-packaged Xen)
Hello, I am a newbie of Xen and just started with SUSE9.3-packaged Xen.
The packaged document README.SuSE and script mk-xen-resucue-img.sh did me a
great help, I could run sample ttylinux-xen and rescue-based Suse with xen.
Now I''m trying YaST dirinstall. I Created a root FS image and installed a

Wine and AMD 64 in Suse 9.3
Hi.
I have to use a comercial Windows software in my work, called Cosilab.
Last two months I was using Debian and wine 0.9.1 and everything went
perfect. The
Program works fine under wine and I haven't got any problems.
Now I've updated my computer to an AMD64 with 2Ghz Processor and I do
not know if the
problem with wine is caused by the 64 bits processor or why...
I try to run the

Suse 10.0 Getting WINE to work
I recently tried to get WINE to work on my Suse 10.0 system.
I believe that my problem stems from not realizing that I needed to issue
the command:
winecfg
before the command:
wine install.exe
The result was the creation of the .wine directory and associated
subdirectories and drive links/mappings.
In the subdir structure, I find many directories/files from my various
attempts to install,

problems (seg-faults) while trying to compile for older suse versions
Hi!
While preparing 2.13.2 in the build service I get stuck for some older
releases of openSUSE / SLED.
While it built fine for 2.13.1 now I get segfaults in 'make docs' and
do so only for 32-bit architectures. This is not urgent, because only
older releases are affected, nevertheless I would like to understand
the cause.
Attached are what I think the relevant parts of a build-log,

Wine auto update under Suse 10.3
The above has been working perfectly since I first installed Wine last year, successfully installing the updates which appear sometimes on a daily basis. It uses the main Suse 10.3 repositories, plus
software.opensuse.org/download/Emulators:/Wine/openSUSE_10.3/
However in the last couple of weeks the updates have all failed, giving a "missing dependencies" message showing many
