[LLVMdev] opt problem
Hi, When I use the opt --insert-block-profiling command, there is " opt: Unknown command line argument '-insert-block-profiling'." When I use the opt -insert-edge-profiling t1.bc -o t1profile.bc, there is an error "Invalid MODULE_CODE_FUNCTION record" . Does anyone know how to solve the problem? Thanks very much! Best, Jianing

3-D Plotting of predictions from GAM/GAMM object
Hello all, Thank you for the previous assistance I received from this listserve! My current question is: How can I create an appropriate matrix of values from a GAM (actually a GAMM) to make a 3-D plot? This model is fit as a tensor product spline of two predictors and I have used it to make specific predictions by calling:

Why is the program too slow?
Hi,everyone. I use the following program calculates Fisher's alpha from counts of individuals and species. The program is wrote by Prof. Kyle Harm. However, when I run the program, it can work very quickly sometimes, but it can not work very well sometimes. It depends on the counts of individuals and species. For example, > calc.alpha(1000,70) [1] 17.14375 > calc.alpha(10000,70) [1]

Lattice: combine the same strip?
Hello R helpers, I am producing a figure with dual strips, i.e., x~y | S1 + S2, where S1 and S2 are two strips. For example, in figure 2.1 at http://lmdvr.r-forge.r-project.org/figures/figures.html. In this case, I would like to combine the the top strip, since all three pictures in the same row have the same level based on the first strip. In other words, instead of | -- S11 -- | -- S11 -- |

pivoting - summing up factors
Hi I would like to know how to pivot a table that will sum the number of plants (a or b) for each location (x,y,z) I have read on the listserve similar questions but which involve summing up numbers rather than factors. I have also read about the R package reshape on the listserve but wanted to know if there's a way to do it easily without the package Thanks for the help! location plant x

non linear 3SLS with constraints
hi, i am new here and wanted to know, before i start learning yet another statistical package: I want to estimate a system of equations that is non linear in the parameters, using 3SLS. However, i will probably have to constrain some of the parameters to be between, say, zero and one. Is this possible with R, and better, is this easy? If so, since i am an absolute beginner, any pointers where

the problem is intractable, and perhaps insoluble
i'm not sure why i work so hard to be accurate and fair when i'm discussing jim, when he in turn seems happy to engage in innuendo and outright _lies_ to slime me. some of the things he says are flat out 360-degree lies, so he obviously cares not even a whit for his credibility. which is why i feel no need any more to counter his crap. because once you've cleared away his

Is there anyone would like to hold a standard organization of Markdown syntax?
My stackoverflow question here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9222990/is-there-an-official-organization-for-discussing-or-releasing-standard-markdown. And github issue here: https://github.com/michelf/php-markdown/issues/27. So, if there were somebody hold that, the markdown world would be much better than ever! If held, the ORG need a concil to discuss standard, and a website to publish

Development Process comment and Email list suggestion
It looks like Mark and others have addressed the development/CVS issues. We should let their plan be put into effect and give it a chance to work. Regarding the email list: A number of people have suggested creating more email lists. I think this is not a good idea because there will be even more cross posting than there is now between -dev and -users. Several years ago I was a moderator on the

Software for Epidmiological, Longitudinal Data
Hello We are a team working on a prospective psychological study. The study design is based on assessing data of three generations of humans over a long time period, wherein epidemiological as well as biological data will be assessed. Sample sizes will range from about 100 to several thousand depending on the research question. Currently we are looking for an apropriate statistical package.
