Keep lossing wireless - ipw3945
Sunday I updated my kernel to 128.1.16 (I had to reboot so it was time to update). No problems with wireless in my home. Monday I started traveling to IEEE 802 plenary, and I have lost my wireless numerous times needing to reboot. The symptom is the radio light goes off. Back before the kernel update, this would happen sometimes at home while on battery, and I would just press the

Creating packages
I am trying to create a package. I have succeeded in running R CMD check and R CMD build on an Intel box running Redhat. I would now like to build it on Windows as well. There is no compiled code in the package at all. I have downloaded the tools from Brian Ripley's Building R for Windows page, and installed Active Perl 5.8.0. I have set paths, and Rcmd and the tools are being found ok. I am

extremely simple "for loop" question
I am sorry to ask such a simple question, but my knowledge of programming language is extremely limited, and I couldn't find the answer in any of the normal resources. I want to do a for loop in which m takes on the values 1, 5, 10, 15, 20. What is the syntax for doing that? I had been doing a loop for m in 1:20, but I only want those values above. Thanks, Brian

Plotting positions in qqnorm?
Do you know of a reference that discusses alternative choices for plotting positions for a normal probability plot? The documentation for qqnorm says it calls ppoints, which returns qnorm((1:m-a)/(m+1-2*a)) with "a" = ifelse(n<=10, 3/8, 1/2)? The help pages for qqnorm and ppoints just refer to Becker, Chambers and Wilks (1988) The New S Language (Wadsworth & Brooks/Cole),

How can I use Adehabitat to obtain an .asc object with the predicted values of a niche model?
Dear all, I'm using the package adehabitat in R to import several .asc files (=matrix), and also create a kasc object (=dataframe) with all of them. The main idea is to use this kasc object to map the predicted values of climate-matching model for an overall area. However, I don't know how to proceed: Do I have to project the model (already stored in R) onto the kasc object directly, or
