Inconsistent use of Perl? (PR#1937)
Dear all
yesterday I got around to install R-1.5.1 on my machine at home which,
admittedly, is running a very old version of RedHat Linux. I noticed
two things:
1) My pdflatex version is too old to produce the pdf version of the
manuals. `./configure' checks whether a recent version of makeinfo
is installed and tells you whether you can produce the info version or
not. (I was told I

Wishart Density
Dear R users,
I am doing MCMC using Metropolis-Hastings. My model is
bivariate-log-normal and the prior for variance-covariance is wishart
distribution. I am wondering if there are some simple codes about how
to get the density of Wishart distribution in my case ?
Thanks in advance.

problem installing fields package 3.5 on R 1.8.1 on linux
I am returning to using R after a little time away.
Saw some great new functions in the fields package and decided to upgrade.
Everything seems to go fine until I tried to actually load the package, when
I get an error:
>library(fields)
Error in parse(file, n, text, prompt) : syntax error on line 227
And (of course) I am unable to access any of the functions in the fields
package.

Hello,
After reinstalling the whole OS and R as well, I tried to update.packages()
and get the follwing error message:
concerning the mgcv update: atlas2-base is installed and blas as well (on

similar associated with blas.
any suggestion how to solve that, thanks Martin

R 68.3 on OSF V4.0 problems
I am trying to install R-0.63.3 on a Digital Alpha running OSF V4.0D, and
having some difficulties. Can anyone help?
Also, I found some "oddities" in the installation process. I expect that
this message is read by the developers, maybe some of my suggestions can be
incorporated into future releases.
Please reply to me directly (as well as possibly also to this mailing list):

Package installation
Hi all,
I'm very new to R.
I have installed R 1.9.0 on Linux (Fedora).
Now I got an self-made package comprising R functions as well as C-Code
which are used in several R functions.
I installed the package without any error (see install log below).
Then, I checked in /usr/lib/R/library if the package izbi exists and it
exists.
But whenever I try to load the library on the command line I
