subset in a matrix
Hi, I have a matrix of data values like the example bellow. I would like to extract a subset of the matrix for the values where the first column is negative. I am using the subset function. However, I am getting an error message that the conditional variable doe snot exist. For some reason, the subset operation only works if I transform the matrix to a data set using as.data.set(). post hoc analysis after anova
Dear list, This is a simple question but I spent an hour on it without success. So I sorry to bother you. I fit a linear model "lm" and then did "anova". My idea is to run multiple pairwise comparision for several factor variables (f1, f2, f3, f4 each with its own levels, say "0", "1", "3" etc )at the same time and get statistics for each

lme question
Hi list, I am fitting microarray data (intensity) model using the lme package in R environment. I have 5 fixed variables in the model. One of the fixed variables is genes. I am trying to get p-values for different genes. But I am getting only one p-value for all genes together. I can get a list of p-value when I run lm. Why can't this work in lme? I was wondering if some one can help me

cluster package
Hi list, I am doing cluster analysis using the cluster package. I created a dendrogram using the function plot(agnes(myData)). When I try to change the sise of labels, it does not work. I tried cex = 1.5, etc. Nothing worked. Can anyone give me a hint on how to change the sise of the labels, as well as the sise of axes labels. malloc: vm_allocate(size=381886464) failed (error code=3)
Hi all, I am having memory allocation problem with my R 2.2.1 for Mac OS. The following is the error message that I get. I do not get this message if I break down the large dataset in to sub datasets. I think breaking up the dataset is not a sustainable solution in the long run. The data that I am analysing is essentially big, and it would be reasonable to do the analyis on the whole dataset

Help on creating a sequence of vectors
I want to create a number of vectors like : vec1 <- rnorm(1) vec2 <- rnorm(2) vec3 <- rnorm(3) and so on........... Here I tried following : for (i in 1:10) paste("vec", i, sep="") <- rnorm(i) However obviously that is not working. Here vectors I need to be seperated i.e I do not want to create a "list". dovecot-auth: returning incorrect maildir for user (user seeing another user's mail)
timo, here is an bizarre bug for you: i had (foolishly, it turns out) configured dovecot-auth to do ldap authentication binding with a prefect userdb (configs at end of message). everything worked fine, although with huge numbers of pop logins per second we started to see some pileup in the pop3-login processes as they were all waiting for ldap responses on the single ldap connection. the

Minor logical bug in rbind.data.frame ?
When attempting to merge 3 data frames, one of which has fewer columns than the others, rbind.data.frame correctly refuses to perform the bind. However, the error message given is a bit obscure due to a logical bug in the match.names() internal function to rbind.data.frame.
