NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL message-- were to look?
Hi folks, I'm trying to access a shared printer on a windows machine. The windows box (call it "Doze") is located behind a router/printserver, and is set up thus: -DOZE connects to the printer via the printserver using the PRTMATE port, and then shares the printer via smb -- workgroup CHASS, server name HIS-FACLAB, printer name his-fac-lex -Router forwards all incoming connections

Howto? 2 interfaces, same network, same gateway
Hello Summary: I have ifplugd managing eth0 and wlan0 (both dhcp). When I plug in the cat5 (which brings up eth0) applications which have already bound to wlan0 stop working, obviously because wlan0 for some reason is unable to get non-local packets out that interface. I figured if poodoze is able to have both interfaces working, then linux must surely be able to do it as well. The

C&C Generals Zero Hour
Im not a total noob to linux since I've been using it for at least 2 years but I havent had the time to really get into it and have been able sort of learn as I go. As for my problem, I was able to get C&C Generals and Zero Hour working with audio on my Xubuntu 10.04 using Wine 1.3.3, I own the originals but unfortunately they are halfway accross the globe from me right now so I took the

Experiences with Word 2000, SmartSuite 9
Using WINE 20010323 under a stock Mandrake 7.2 system. Word 2000 seems to work but won't save files. If the file exists, it just says, ``file exists'' [OK]. If you save anywhere fancy like ``My Documents'' it says this is not a real filesystem location [OK]. If you specify a drive and path (h:\filename.doc) it tells you that this is an invalid filename, please check it [OK].

gcc.exe: unrecognized option `-shared' encountered (building R on Windows)
Dear All, I've followed all the instructions in the documentation for building a Windows Port of R (1.2.2). I have almost managed to get it to build. but it falls over at the end - when its creating (I think) the R.dll. I'm using the MINGW binaries in conjunction with the extracted binaries from the latest tools.zip archive. I am running on Windows 2000 Any ideas as to what I may be

how can i find out a netbios name from an IP address.
i install quite a few (debian linux) internet gateway boxes with samba installed so that the client can get their /var/www directory in network neighbourhood. in order to diagnose network faults (i.e "WTF can't the stupid doze boxes see/login to/etc the samba share?"), i often need to find out the netbios name of a machine. for some reason this seems to an extraordinarily difficult

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 It works for me. I have three USB disks which are configured as 10 "tape" slots on each. I back up every few days to the disk, and about once a month take the disk into work and bring the oldest one back. Obviously the disk at home doesn't protect me against fire or theft, but it does protect against disk failure. HTH, Martin On

Anyone successfully using CentOS 5 and a Keyspan USA-19HS USB-Serial Adapter?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I occasionally need to connect to a serial device and in the past have used minicom and the Keyspan USA-19HS adapter. It has worked flawlessly. Once I upgraded, I could never seem to make this work. The kernel recognizes the adapter, it gets properly assigned as /dev/ttyUSB0, and minicom seems to transmit data to it (as evidenced by the green LED

FW: PXE booting
Sorry, I originally send this message to H. Peter only... -----Original Message----- Hi! Strangely enough, I have again the same Fujitsu-Siemens machine which (still) has the same darn PXE bug. This time I have tested it with Pxelinux 2.02 . Just to suite it to my specific needs, I have recompiled it, changed only this line: (2036) ;cfgprefix db 'pxelinux.cfg/' ; No final null!
