Question about fitting power
Hi R users
I'm trying to fit a model y=ax^b.
I know if I made ln(y)=ln(a)+bln(x) this is a linear regression.
But I obtain differente results with nls() and lm()
My commands are: nls(CV ~a*Est^b, data=limiares, start =list(a=100,b=0),
trace = TRUE) for nonlinear regression
and : lm(ln_CV~ln_Est, data=limiares) for linear
regression

export files - write.table
Hi user
I have a question about export files.
I run my program for different countries and different years.
For export files I do this in SAS:
(1) Path to data files
%let teste=C:\Documents and Settings\MEALQ\My Documents;
(2) Country code;
%let cc=pt;
(3) Survey year;
%let yy=03;
Output in: &teste\&cc\&yy\cc&yy.txt
How can I do a similar command in R?

Dotchart per groups
Hi all,
I would like to ask you for help. I did a dotplot - using dotchart
function.
There are two localites (loc) with values 75 or 56 in my data ZZ.
The f column has 4 levels: P1, S1, S8, R6.
The dataframe is ordered by N value, pchloc value is assign to use "pch" in
plot.

help for segmented package
Hi,
I am trying to find m breakpoints of a linear regression model. I
used the segmented package. It works fine for small number of
predicators and breakpoints.(3 r.v. 3 points). However, my model has
14 variables it even would not work even for just one breakpoints!.
The error message is always estimated breakpoints are out of range.
Since my problem is time related problem. So I

HELP! Excel and R give me totally different regression results using the exact same data
Hallo,
I am totally confused why Excel and R give me totally different regression
results for the data below. If you know the solution, please enlighten me.
In Excel I used LINEST() and Data>Data Analysis>Regression and both
(fortunately) gave the same result.
The coefficients were:
/b0=1.16, b1=0.957, b2=0.024, R2=0.0027, adjusted R2=-0.017/

regression with a*cos(angle+phi)+b
Hello,
the only thing I found to fit a sin/cos is s.th like lm(a~cos+sin) But
this is not what I want.
I have a magnitude which is sinusoidal with offset and it doesn't start
at phi=0.
The data is:

Simple AR(2)
Hi there, we are beginners in R and we are trying to fit the following time
series using ar(2):

The reason of choosing the present time series is that the we have

TIOCSCTTY problem/fix
Perhaps this is a known problem, but I only found one instance of someone
describing it on the net with no follow-up. I just installed openssh
(3.6p1) on a linux system (running an old 2.0.34 kernel) with privilege
separation disabled and get the following messages in /var/log/messages:

First, these are preliminary results because I did not do the things
necessary to make them real (explicitly quiet the machine, bind the
processes to one cpu, etc.). But they should be good enough for
discussion.

Wilcoxon test and grouping factor with multiple levels
Dear R users,
I have a dataset with two variables: $esan - a grouping factor with 8
levels and $reus. I'd like to do wilcox.test on this dataset as
sugested Weiwei here:

to adapt his recommendation but no succes. Can anyone help me?

An Issue concerning FS2004
Hi!
I've just installed FS2004.
I am using version 0.9.54, as recommended in the AppDB.
My Linux OS Is Debian Etch(4.0) With a fully capable processor(Games of such category run perfectly on Windows).
Followed the instructions: Installed via the "WINXP" Mode, then switched to Windows 98.
Here's the problem:

Problem about calling from atrixbox to pbx extension
I have a trixbox 2.2 and Nortel santral that are speak each other. I use
digium TDM100M 2 fxs-2fxo. After I made yum update I had met with some
problems when I want to make any call from extension of trixbox to
extension of nortel. When I attend to log (/var/log/messages) I meet
with these messages as you see below.
When I try to make any call from trixbox extension the call seems
established but
