bwplot [lattice]: how to get different y-axis scales for each row?
Dear expeRts, How can I get ... (1) different y-axis scales for each row (2) while having the same y-axis scales for different columns? I coulnd't manage to do this with relation="free" [which gives (1) but not (2)]. I also tried relation="sliced", but it did not give the same y-axis scales within each row (see the fourth row). Further, it "separates" the

bwplot: how to get plotmath labels?
Dear expeRts, How can I get plotmath-labels in the bwplot below? As you can see, I couldn't manage to pass the expressions through the dimnames argument. Cheers, Marius library(lattice) ## data dim <- c(100, 6, 2, 3) dimnames <- list(n=paste("n=", seq_len(100), sep=""), groups=paste("group=", seq_len(6), sep=""),

how to add point and label to boxplot using bwplot
Hi. My data contains information for 10 hospitals for 12 different measures. Let's call it x1-x12. I need to create a boxplot for each one of this measures and put them into one page. Each plot also needs to be independent, i.e. cannot use the group feature because of different scales for each measure. I was successful using the following code: x1 <- c(1.317604376, 0.978038233,

bwplot puts the bars in the wrong place
Dear R-Help, With the attached data set, I am still getting incorrect bwplots > xyplot(gdf$tt~gdf$OnHour |gdf$Runway, data=gdf) # Is correct > bwplot(gdf$tt~gdf$OnHour |gdf$Runway, data=gdf, horizontal=FALSE) # Puts the boxes on the wrong x-axis values # look especially at 0 and 3. How do I fix this? What is happening? Thanks, Jim Rome

bwplot questions: box order, axis breaks, and multiple y-axis labels
Hi all, I used bwplot in lattice to create a 6-panel boxplot grouped by a conditioning variable (param) that displays concentration (conc) in response to treatment (trtmnt). Here is the functional part of my code followed by my three questions: library(lattice); ww<-read.csv(file="c:/Rdata/lattice_boxplot_prep.csv",header=TRUE,sep=","); attach(ww);

Two bwplots in one single graph
Dear list, With the below codes, I got 8 bwplots but I would like to put 2 bwplots in one single graph so that instead of 8 separate bwplots I would have 4 graphs, each contains 2 bwplots. How can I do that? Another question is how do I add the mean as a point to each boxplot in the bwplot but also keeping the median line. for (i in 1:length(dat)){ windows() with(dat[[i]],

how to suppress whiskers in a bwplot?
dear R-help, i have looked carefully through the R-help archives for information on how to suppress whiskers in a bwplot. someone asked this question a while ago, but the answer he received is not available in the archives. but i did manage to get my hands on a panel function (called "my.panel") that is supposed to do this (the function is reproduced at the end of the email, below).

lattice: axis ticks, axis alignment and remove axis from plot
Hi there, I'm a bit confused concerning the axis tck setting in the lattice package as the ticks on left sided axis aren't drawn at all with the following setting: dados <- data.frame(varsep = factor(rep(1:2,10)), i = runif(20)) library(lattice) my.theme <- list( axis.components = list(left = list(tck = 1, pad1 = 1, pad2 = 2), top = list(tck = 0, pad1

bwplot() {lattice}
Hi All, I'm trying to plot boxplot graph. I tried barchart with "groups=" option and it worked fine. But when I try to generate same kind of graph using bwplot(), "groups=" option doesn't seem to work. Though this works, yield ~ variety | site * year I'm thinking why "groups=" doesn't work in this case, can anyone help please... #Code:

Placing eps files from R into Adobe InDesign documents: specifying fontfamily
This is a solution I am posting for a problem that others may have. If you want to: 1. Place lattice graphics from R into an Adobe InDesign document, and 2. Use the export as eps function in R to maximize resolution (it is much better than exporting as a metafile or bitmap), and 3. Use long strings of text in your titles or captions or to label your axes. Then you will have problems because:

Same boxplot colors by panels in lattice (bwplot)
Dear all, I would like to have the same color for the all boxplots from the same panel, but my code below shows the two colors alternating. Thanks! set.seed(42) D1 <- rnorm(200) D2 <- factor(sample(letters[1:2],200,TRUE)) D3 <- factor(sample(letters[3:5],200,TRUE)) DF <- data.frame(x=D1,a=D2,b=D3) print(bwplot(b~x|a,data=DF,col=c("black","black"),

Colour makes my life; but not my bwplot (panel.violin)
Using Trellis, am successfully setting up a number of panels (25) in which I have two box and violin plots. I would like to colour - one plot as RED and the other as BLUE (in each panel). I can do that with the box plots, but the violin density areas just take on one colour. My basic call is as follows: bwplot(rmsd ~ file | code, data=spread_data.filtered, panel = function(...,

label *on the side* in conditional lattice plots?
I'm doing bwplot(x ~ y | z, ...) with lattice, but would like the z-labels to appear to the *side* of each bwplot, rather than on top... is this possible? The main reason is that my bwplots are horizontal, and as such can be nicely squished in the vertical axis (big space-saver when including in papers), but the labels "get in the way", look too large in comparison, while I have

Colour filling in panel.bwplot from lattice
Inspired by colouring the dots of box-whisker plots I am trying to also fill the boxes (rectangles) with different colours. This seems not to work as I expected. Looking at the help page of panel.bwplot it says: 'fill - color to fill the boxplot'. Obviously it is only intended to fill all boxes with only one colour? Nevertheless the following example shows, that 'fill' from

bwplot and panel.bwplot
Hello, I am trying to use "bwplot" to display whisker boxes according to some conditioning factors ("age" has two values 1/2). I get the following messages: > library(trellis) > bwplot(dvk95~age|site*season,panel=function(x,y){panel.bwplot(x,y)}) Error in tapply(1:0, structure(list(INDICES = numeric(0)), .Names = "INDICES"), : arguments must have

How to produce notches in bwplot?
Dear r-helpers, tst <- data.frame(as.numeric(x <- 1:20), f <- rep(c('hi','lo'), times = 10)) with(tst, bwplot(f ~ x, panel = function(x, y){panel.bwplot(x, y, pch = '|', stats = boxplot.stats, fill = 8, varwidth = T)})) I can't figure out from the documentation how to tell stats that I would like to see notches or (even bands). Here is what I've

Lattice::bwplot unexpected behaviour when using vector of colors
Hi, I'm trying to produce colored boxplots using lattice::bwplot function. I need to plot each boxplot in the panel with a specific color. Naturally I used a vector of colors and expected to see colored boxplots. Although the boxplots were colored, the color of whiskers and the boxes do not match. Here is an example: d = data.frame(y = rnorm(100), x=1:4) box.color <-
