Questions about cbind
Dear R-helpers I have a stupid question about cbind function. Suppose I have a dataframe like this Frame: A 10 C 20 B 40 and a numeric matrix like this Matrix: A 1 B 2 C 3 cbind(Frame[,2],Matrix[,1]) simply binds these two columns without checking the order, I mean, the result will be A 10 1 B 20 2 C 30 3 rather than A 10 1 B 30 2 C 20 3 So my problem is: Is there any solution for R to bind

Spacing and margins in plot
If I use the following command to plot points: plot(c(1,2,2,3,3,3), type="p", pch=20, ylab="Y Label", xlab="X Label", xaxt="n") there is a large amount of space between the label "X Label" and the actual x-axis. If I change the xaxt="n" to xaxt="s", the label "X Label" don't move at all. Is there a way to get

acf() with two df?
Hello, I have two dataframes, one with a time series of variables and another one with biological data of each plot. the column names correspond to each other plot1 plot 2....... 1983 ... .... 1984 ... .... ... and plot 1 plot2 1 ... ... 2 is it somehow possible to use acf() with two data frames and get a p values for the whole correaltion of these

R version of SAS Proc Varclus
I am interested in finding an R version of SAS "Proc Varclus". SAS's Proc Varclus implements an oblique cluster analysis based on principal components. How can I find out if R has a package that runs the same algorithm implemented in SAS "Proc Varclus"? Thank you, Mary Helen Black __________________________ Mary Helen Black, M.S. Orthoblique rotation on eigenvectors (SAS VARCLUS)
Hi All, I'd like to build a package for the community that replicates the output produced by SAS "proc varclus". According to the SAS documentation, the first few steps are: 1. Find the first two principal components. 2. Perform an orthoblique rotation (quartimax rotation) on eigenvectors. 3. Assign each variable to the rotated component with which it has the higher squared

Package for variable clustering
Dear R users: is there a package, similar to varclus in SAS or varclus in S, ported or written for R? Also, is there any other package in R that was designed for grouping the variables under different measures of distance (in cases where data is non-Gaussian, autocorrelated, and so on). namespaces
I'd like to control my namespace thoroughly, separated by task. Is there a way, in R session, to introduce namespaces for tasks dynamically and switch them as needed? Or, is there a combination of load/save workspace steps which can facilitate this? Cheers, Alexy

varclus in Hmisc vs SAS PROC VARCLUS
Hi, I'll apreciate your guidance on how can I re-create the output from SAS PROC VARCLUS in R. I've found the varclus function in Hmisc. However, is it possible to use that function to compute for each variable the 1-R**2 ratio (this is the ratio of 1 minus the R-squared with Own Cluster to one minus the R-squared in the Next Closest cluster)? Thanks in advance for any help, Lars.

correaltion equal 1
Dear All, I wonder if this is a technical or an interpretation problem. I fitted an lme model including a random intercept and a random slope. The estimated correlation, from the lme, between the random intercept and the random slope is equal to 1. Does it mean that I should suppress one of the random effect from the model? Thanks a lot, Bernard

[PATCH v2] i2c: virtio: add a virtio i2c frontend driver
Add an I2C bus driver for virtio para-virtualization. The controller can be emulated by the backend driver in any device model software by following the virtio protocol. This driver communicates with the backend driver through a virtio I2C message structure which includes following parts: - Header: i2c_msg addr, flags, len. - Data buffer: the pointer to the I2C msg data. - Status: the

setting new working directories
Hello, and Happy New Year. My default working directory is getting very cluttered. I know that I should be using a different working directory for each project (I work in Windows), but do not know how to go about creating different ones and moving back and forth between them. I have read Venables & Ripley (Modern Applied Statistics with S-PLUS, 1994) but this seems out of date with respect
