logistic regression
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry if this turns out to be more a statistical question than one
specifically about R - but would greatly appreciate your advice anyway.
I've been using a logistic regression model to look at the relationship
between a binary outcome (say, the odds of picking n white balls from a bag
containing m balls in total) and a variety of other binary parameters:

converting null to some values
Hi,
I have newbie question. Suppose I have the following data:

type2 = c("low", "med", "high", "low", "med"), a = c(1,2,4, NA, 3), b =

linear discriminant analysis / search
Dear R help list,
I have a training dataset that looks like Table1.
I have an unknown dataset that looks like Table2.
I want to have a program that should search the training dataset and
identify that the unknown sample belongs to which category (type1, type2 or
type3)
and also if the unknown does not belong to any of the categories, it should
let me know.

[LLVMdev] bitconvert for multi-typed RegisterClasses
Hi All,
I'm working on a back end for an architecture that makes use of multi-
typed register classes.
def MR: RegisterClass<"namespace", [type1, type2, ... ], ... >
When running some preliminary tests I found that the instruction
selector refused to select certain ops (specifically stores) for some
instructions when the operand type wasn't the first type for the

extracting coefficients from lmer
Dear R-Helpers,
I want to compare the results of outputs from glmmPQL and lmer analyses.
I could do this if I could extract the coefficients and standard errors
from the summaries of the lmer models. This is easy to do for the glmmPQL
summaries, using
> glmm.fit <- try(glmmPQL(score ~ x*type, random = ~ 1 | subject, data = df,
family = binomial), TRUE)
> summary(glmmPQL.fit)$tTable

help with syntax of nlme function
I am having difficulty understanding the syntax of the nlme() function for
nonlinear mixed models. The data frame is called Marouane.chlorophyll. The
model involves a dependent variable (Absorb) and an independent variable
(Ch.surf), which are both numeric variables in the data frame. The data are
hierarchically grouped as Espece, Plante nested within Espece, and Feuille
nested within Plante

[OFF] Nested or not nested, this is the question.
Hi,
sorry by this off.
I'm still try to understand nested design.
I have the follow example (fiction):
I have 12 plots in 4 sizes in 3 replicates (4*3 = 12)
In each plot I put 2 species (A and B) to reproduce.
After a period I make samples in each board and count the number of
individuals total (tot) and individuals A and B (nsp). Others individuals
excepts A and B are in total of

simple reshape of a large data frame (reshape() runs out of memory)
Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem performing reshape() on a large data frame. The
operation is fairly trivial but it makes R run out of memory.
The data frame has the following structure:
ID DATE1 DATE2 VALTYPE
VALUE
'abcd1233' 2009-11-12 2009-12-23 'TYPE1'
123.45

VALTYPE is a string and is a factor with

- op : ID of operator
- meth : method used
- mat : nature of the material used
and one variable
- mv : mesure
- trmv : transformed mesure

he^lp on "stack" function
Excuse me.
I don't understant how to use the function "stack".
I'm not sure to know the good syntax.
I've got a data witch column names are the time when the mesures was done and
an
other who indicates the age of the subjetcs.
I would like to do a new matrix with patients older than a value and the new
matrix will contain in the first column the time of the mesures and in

[LLVMdev] Writing my own debugger... use __builtin_frame_address or is there something better?
Hi LLVM list,
Thanks for having me here.
I'm writing my own debugger for my (secret) language...
I don't know anything about LLVM beyond the general "big picture"... I haven't any real practical experience working with it... beyond just using XCode...
So... really the problem is... I'm generating some functions... by "compiling to C"... so my compiler just

Why Clang is unpacking my StructType Function arguments
Hi:
We are currently building an internal solution based on LLVM/Clang technologies which involves generating LLVM IR based on Bitcode generated by Clang from C codes.
We have a C function which prototype looks like the following:
typedef struct {
int (*allocFunction)(void* x, void* y);
void* YY;
} Type4;
int bar (Type1 *x, Type2 *y, Type3 *z, Type4 bar)
When we compile this code

Mean calculation by two variables
Hello All,
I have a data frame (dput information below) with food item weight for fish
species.
I need to calculate the Mean proportion by weight of each food item for
each specie, as show in solution data frame (dput information below).
I use the ddply function (plyr package) in two steps. First calculate the
proportion of weight for each individual:
step1 = ddply (example, .(ID), transform,
