names(dist(mat)) gives NULL in R 2.1.0
Dear list, I do not know if this is a bug. Let's suppose mat is a matrix derived from this code: > x<-rnorm(10) > y<-rnorm(10) > names(x)<-LETTERS[1:10] > names(y)<-LETTERS[1:10] > mat<-cbind(x,y) Now in R 2.0.1 I have: > names(dist(mat)) "A" "B" "C" "D" "E" "F" "G" "H"

iraq statistics - OT
I came across this one: http://www.nysun.com/article/32787 which says that the violent death rate in Iraq (which presumably includes violent deaths from the war) is lower than the violent death rate in major American cities. Does anyone have any insights from statistics on how to interpret this?

I am currently the only use-R at my company, but they are considering buy a more powerful server and letting multiple people use it. They asked me if R supports client-server setups. I know S+ has a server version that does that. I didn't find anything about that on CRAN, but hopefully someone can correct me. I did see some stuff about R web servers

Alternatively, what kinfd of non linear time series models are performed in R? If R is not able, could someone suggest me for some commercial softwares to deal with bilinear models? i'm afraid of a negative

Dear all, I have tried to consider a correlation structure in lme (package lme4), but without success. I have used something like: > risul<-lme(y~x+ z , data=mydata, random=~ x | g, correlation = corAR1()) but the result is the same as: > risul<-lme(y~x+ z , data=mydata, random=~ x | g). Is R a good choice for this?
Hi. I'm working in a project about web-users behaviour analysis. In a few words, it consists on: - log-files recopilation and pre-analysis - basic stadistics extraction (pages most visited, session lengths, etc.) and on-line report generation in a web-viewable format - more advanced analysis for web-users characterization The purpose of my project is implementing my own data analysis, so

Web-application using R
Hi, all; Our group is planning to develop a web-based analysis package with R. I have some questions. (1) Can we use R as a daemon-like way such that, after invoking R and making it run in a kind of background mode, just put some R script into R using some pipe-like mechanism and retrieve the result out of it? (2) If this is possible, then how can we do it? If this is not possible, then what

Monitoring qdisks and classes.
Are there any tools like iptraf or top to display tc stats? I would like to see things like flowes(TCP or UDP connections) as well as simple per second stats. I''m trying to monitor my p2p uploads and network connections to see if things are getting into the right class. I used to use mrtg for this, with some perl scripts I wrote. This project of mine has long since bitrotten.

Bandwith vsatl - not static
I have a existencial problem. There are some provider that offer the service of bandwith asimetric as download/upload link as for example 512/256. but most of them offer not exclusive this amount of transmission or reception capacity. They usually offer the service with more users as a ratio of 1/10. How I can design a appropriate diagrama with htb where the amount of bandwith could vary.?
