Graphics file to disk
Dear All,
I have some code that works in S-Plus for writing saving a graphics file to disk :-
graphsheet(type = "auto", format = "WMF", file = "G:\\north0l.wmf",
pages = "auto", print.background = F,
orientation="landscape",
color.style="color")
plot(x,y)
dev.off()
This works fine in S-Plus.

CIs in predict?
Dear All,
I am trying to put some Confidence intervals on some regressions from a linear model with no luck. I can extract the fitted values using 'predict', but am having difficulty in getting at the confidence intervals, or the standard errors.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Cheers

Loading library lme4
Dear all,
I an running R on a Windows 2000 machine (1.5Gb RAM) and am trying to load the lme4 package, however, whenever I attempt to load the library "lme4" I get the following error message
I have installed lme4 and Matrix locally from the zip file with no problems.

Using corStruct in nlme
I am having trouble fitting correlation structures within nlme. I would like to
fit corCAR1, corGaus and corExp correlation structures to my data. I either
get the error "step halving reduced below minimum in pnls step" or
alternatively R crashes.
My dataset is similar to the CO2 example in the nlme package. The one major
difference is that in my case the 'conc' steps are

Hello:
I am new on R, this is the first time I work with it,
I am trying to run some R example to get learn of them,

Problems with nlme: Quinidine example
This concerns the "Clinical Study of Quinidine" example on page 380
of the book "Mixed-Effects Models in S and S-PLUS" by Pinheiro and Bates (2000).
I have tried to reproduce the example, but get an error:
> library(nlme)

lKa, lCl),

GLMMpql: reporting on main effects
Dear R users
I am using GLMMpql to analyse some nested negative binomial response data.
How do I summarise the significance of my main effects? For example, in a standard linear mixed model (lme), I would use anova.lme to obtain an F statistic and P value for each of my main effects: how do I achieve a similar goal using GLMMpql?
many thanks

self-starter functions for y = a + b * c^x
Hi
there are some predefined self-start functions, like SSmicmen, SSbiexp,
SSasymp, SSasympOff, SSasympOrig, SSgompertz, SSflp, SSlogis, SSweibull,
Quadratic, Qubic, SSexp (nlrwr)
Btw, do you know graphic examples for this functions?

formula for degrees of freedom for nonlinear mixed model in nlme
Dear forum members,
What is the formula to calculate denominator degrees of freedom (den df) for nonlinear mixed-effect models with covariates? My model is similar to a CO2 uptake example from Pinheiro and Bates (2000, page 376). In this CO2 dataset, there are two treatments and two types (84 observations in total), but den df for each parameter of the model is 64. Isn’t it too high?

Compare parameter estimates of a nlsList object
Hello together,
Is there a tool to test the statistical differences between parameter estimates of a nlsList fit?
I fitted degradation data using the nlsList method and want to find out whether derived rate constants are significantly different from each other at the grouping factors soil and temperature.

why two diff. se in nlsList?
Hi list,
In the object returned by summary.nlsList, what's the difference between "coefficients" and "parameters"? The have the same "Estimate", different se (therefore t value), but same p values.
R.2.8.0 on winxp with nlme_3.1-89
Thanks,

Memory getting eaten up with XML
Hi all. I have an issue that I cannot resolve. I am trying to read in lots of data that are stored in xml files. But after I read them in and copy the relevant data, then remove the document etc, it doesn't free up the memory. When I monitor it in windows task manager the memory usage just climbs with each iteration until R crashes. I can replicate the problem with the small example:

lme, nlsList, nlsList.selfStart
Dear listers,
I am trying to fit a model using nlsList() using alternately a SSfol()
selfstart function or its developped equivalent formulae.
This preliminary trial works well
mydata<-groupedData(Conc~Tps|Organ,data=mydata)
mymod1<-nls(Conc~SSfol(Dose,Tps,lKe,lKa,lCl),data=mydata)
as well as a developped form:
mymod2<-nls(Conc~Dose * exp(lKe+lKa-lCl) *

Specify CRAN repository from command line
Hi,
It feels like I should be able to do something like:
R CMD INSTALL lib='/usr/lib64/R/library' repos='http://proxy.url/cran' package
We have a bunch of servers (compute nodes in a Rocks cluster) in an isolated subnet, there is a basic pass-through proxy set up on the firewall (the head node) which just passes HTTP requests through to our nearest CRAN mirror.

nlme predict with se?
I am trying to make predictions with se's using a nlme (kew11.nlme
below). I get an error indicating levels for a factor are not allowed.
I have searched and read Rnews, MEMSS, MASS, R-Help, and other lists
in Spanish where I found questions similar to mine but not solution.
I do not really care about the method used. Any suggestions to obtain
predictions with se's from an nlme

Tree package
Dear All,
Many thanks to those who replied to my query about getting functions
into "R".
I have another problem that I hope is as easy to solve as the last one.
I want to install the package Tree on my system and have no idea how to
go about it.
Any help would be gratefully received

functions and getting them into R
Dear All,
I am new to R and can see it is a very powerful and versatile system for
programming and statistical analysis.
Say I have written a simple function and want to use it on a regular
basis. I have the file as a text file say 'c:\R-funcs\func.txt' how do I
get R to find it on the hard disc or alternatively where is the default
location for looking up functions where I can place

bug in extractAIC.survreg (PR#6910)
Full_Name: Dave Ramsey
Version: 1.8.0
OS: win2000
Submission from: (NULL) (202.27.240.6)
there is a bug in extractAIC.survreg in library MASS.
A survreg model object has no component called "residuals". Hence
n <- length(fit$residuals)
returns 0 resulting in errors
workaround: replace
n <- length(fit$residuals)
with
n <- length(residuals(fit))
