Conflict RGtk tcltk
Hi everybody,
I'm making an application using the package tcltk. Everything goes fine until I
load the package RGtk. The interface doesn't work anymore. Is there any conflict
between these packages? I thought about unloading the package RGtk but I don't
know how to do that.
Thanks,

encrypted RData file?
Hi, I wonder if there is interest/intention to allow for encrypted .RData
files? One can certainly do that outside R manually but that will leave a
decrypted RData file somewhere which one has to remember to delete.
Cheers,

COM objects with early bindings in R
Dear list member,
I am using the packages RDCOMClient and SWinTypeLibs and try to import a COM
object (created in Delphi) in R that is of type 'early binding' instead of
late 'late binding'. Is there a possibility to do this in R?
Currently, the following returns an error message:
l1 = LoadTypeLib("c:\\Programme\\INVESCO\\QaCalendar\\Calendar.dll")

Installing SJava (I'm almost there, just a little more help please!....please!)
Hi. Day three and Iām still struggling with this. Any advice to overcome the
final hurdle will be enormously appreciated. I now have all the right Java
applications etc. in their right places and have managed to get rid of most
errors but still get this:

Problems with source() function
Hello list members!
I'm trying to enter some data in an R session using source() function
with an URL as argument. The data source is a PHP script located in an
apache web server and the data is a long list generated on-the-fly,
these are the initial lines:

R from Perl -- RSPerl and lines function.
Dear R-helpers,
I am running well Perl and R on my Debian Linux, and I tried RSPerl.
Installation is ok and all simple functions run well. But I have a
problem to call the "lines" function.
I would like to draw an histogram with the density curve on. Is is OK
in R with the command:
>x<-rnorm(1000)
>hist(x,prob=T)
>lines(density(x))
for example.
Now, I have a Perl script

.Net Framework Wrapper
I am going to attempt to develop a wrapper for the R.dll library in the .Net
framework.
I successfully interfaced with some very simple functions from the library,
but nothing close to do some data analysis.
I dumped all the "publicly" available functions and attributes from the
windows dll and found there are 2671 functions and attributes.
I created an API document that

writing R shell scripts?
I'm new to the list. I've used R and S-PLUS a bit for about 15 years but
am now working to make R my main program for all numerical and statistical
computing. I also use Octave for this kind of work and I recommend it (it
is also under the GPL). Here's my question: In Octave I can write shell
scripts in the Linux/UNIX environment that begin with a line like this...

R thread safe
Dear R-dev,
I would like to accelerate my R computation by using parallel OpenMP compilers
(e.g from Pathscale) on a 2-processor AMD server and I would like to know
whether R is a tread safe library. The main kernel of the OpenMP
parallelization is a C SEXP function that performs the computational routine in
parallel with:

IPC
Hi, I need to somehow make R communicate with another remote JAVA
process which provides compute services. I have control over the
communications protocol, but I would like to keep it to a standardised
protocol, such as SOAP, CORBA, etc.
What I would like to know is, what do other people use to do this? The
nature of the communications will be low bandwidth procedure calls, with
little data.

Compiling "R Embedded" examples
Hi,
This question was first posted wrongly on R-help. Apologize for the inconvenience.
I am working at a major financial institution and we would like to embed R in one of our front office application.
The application is written in C/C++ so I started by trying to compile the examples in "tests/Embedding" of R 2.0.1.
I have modified "tests/Embedding/Makefile" according to

SAX Parser best practise
Dear All,
I have a question regarding best practise in setting up a XML parser
within R.
Because I have files with more than 100 MB and I'm only interested in
some values I think a SAX-like parser using xmlEventParse() will be the
best solution.
Unfortunately the values I'm looking for, to construct some higher "mass
spectrum", are distributed over different lines: as

How allocate STRSXP outside of gc
Hi,
I am trying to figure a way to allocate a string SEXP so that gc() won't
ever collect it.
Here is a little bit of a background. Suppose I want to write a
.Call-callable function that upon each call returns the same value, say
mkChar("foo"):
SEXP getFoo() {
return mkChar("foo");
}
The above implementation doesn't take advantage of the fact that

segfault following a detach
Hello, first off, thanks for all of the previous help; hopefully someone
will have some insight on this question. I am attempting to track down a
segmentation fault which occurs only after a detach(2) is called in the
code (I have replaced the detach(2) with detach(package:DSA) and that
fails as well (furthermore, I have removed the detach calls and it does
not segfault)). It has proved
