Output Graphics GIF
Dear R users, How could I managed graphics in GIF format? What I have been doing is graphics in *.ps or *.eps and after I convert them using CONVERT (from ImageMagick) but the output quality is not good. Since these graphics will be use for other users they must have a better image quality. I really appreciate any help, -- Abraço, Nilza Barros [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Graphics output device
Dear developers, I wonder would you consider making a save to a graphics file format (as opposed to ps)? What prompts this is that we have just finished my wife's thesis using R heavily for stats and graphs. The combination of latex, bibtex and R generated .eps worked a treat and we were very pleased with both the final outcome and the efficiency of gernerating it, especially when all the

minimizing device-dependent code in graphics scripts
Here is a common scenario that I and probably others often face: - I write a script, test.R, to produce some graphs, viewing them on-screen and tinkering until they look right - I want to save image files (e.g., .png), so I wrap each plot in device driver calls, e.g., png(file='test01.png', width=600, height=600); plot(1:10) dev.off() png(file='test02.png', width=600,

Saved EPS/PDF graphics not same as JPG/BMP graphics
When I save a particular plot as JPG or BMP, the saved image is an accurate copy of that plot. But when I save the same plot as EPS or PDF, some text elements are incorrectly altered. An example is attached. Notice in the top middle and top right panels, the x-axis labels have correct subscript 1 in the JPG, but incorrect subscript 2 in the EPS. I'm using R 2.13.0 on Windows 7. Any clues

trellis graphics in loops
I have this awkward problem with trellis (lattice). I am trying to generate some plots through loops but the .eps file is empty. When I generate them in a list and print them outside the loop all is fine. this is an example below:( nothing shows up in foo.eps, but all show up in foo1.eps) R vesion 2.0.1, lattice version 0.10-16, on a debian 2.6.8-1 kernel. X <- data.frame(x=rnorm(10000),

This is what I'm doing: 1) In R: save the chart as a a Postcript in a folder C:/xxx/Density.eps 2) In Latex (using TexWorks on windows xp) : In the preambule: \documentclass[11pt]{article} \usepackage{graphicx} \begin{document} blah..blah…blah \begin{figure} \centering

animations?
Is there a method for creating "animations" using R. Or is there another piece of software (unix perferrably) that can generate a "movie" from many ps/eps/gif/jpg files? Thanks, Jeff. Jeff D. problem with legend on other graphics devices
Hi, I have a bit of a problem with a legend in png, eps and pdf plots produced from a custom plotting function. I was writing a little function to produce some stock plots for a routine analysis conducted in our lab. I have a wrapper function figures() (see below) that produces eps, png and pdf versions of the lab output. When I draw the plot on the X11() device the correct amount of space is

latex, eps graphics and transparent colors
I have a diagram to be included in latex, where all my figures are .eps graphics (so pdflatex is not an option) and I want to achieve something like the following: three concentric filled circles varying in lightness or saturation. It is easiest to do this using transparency, but in my test using the postscript driver, the transparent color fills do not appear. Is it correct that postscript()

Sweave: multiple graphic formats, e.g. win.metafile
Dear R devel, being constrained to a windows environment at work and having colleagues being accustomed to the Microsoft Office Suite, I was looking for a way to have the RweaveLatex driver for Sweave automatically generating 'win.metafile's in addition to the pdf graphics. Without this functionalilty, the generation of emf-graphics is quite laborious, I think: <<>>= plotit

tiff graphics
Colleagues I frequently insert PDF graphics created with R into Word (Office 2004 for Mac) documents. The documents are created on either a Linux machine (RedHat 9) or a Mac (Tiger). I am using R 2.2.0. These pdf graphics often lose a great deal of resolution after insertion into Word compared to their high quality when printed as PDF documents. I recently learned that converting the

Plotmath, sweave and lattice graphics interaction problem
Dear List, I have hit this problem with using a plotmath expression in an axis label on a lattice plot I'm including in a Sweave document. The actual document is far too long and boring (unless you are interested in the hydrochemistry of upland lakes) to include here, but the following minimal example reproduces the problem; basically, the PDF produced by Sweave has missing characters in the
