Really... ? i dont agree..
SOA specifies the DNS server providing authoritative information about a domain, so looks to me its direcly related to NameServers.
SOA contains the primary (NS) server of the domain.
Looks to me its related...
Below it nice explained how DNS works.
That a SOA not (always) related is

Authentication to Secondary Domain Controller initially fails when PDC is offline
And to get mentioned entries list I used:
"samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names | grep Default-First-Site-name"
This list 8 DNS records related to Default Site.
Next was to change Default-First... by the name of another AD Site (sed is
still working :p)
I was able to create DNS entries which were missing for one of my sites.
Next, test:

smbfs intermittent errors: tdb_lock failed, ERRDOS 71
Hi,
I recently upgraded an older box running as a file server for a small
company to Mandriva (Mandrake) 10.1. It's running Samba 3.0.10.1, the
default Mandrake package.
We have a custom script that mounts a Windows share using smbfs, backs
up specific directories, and unmounts when it's done. The problem is,
it's not mounting reliably.
There is an entry in /etc/fstab for the

For me:
- SOA means where updates can be sent.
- SOA can be one or several.
- NS is a record to help non-authoritative name servers to find a valid
name server for the zone they receive a request and they don't know
anything about that zone.
- SOA is often declared as NS, I agree. I explained this is not mandatory.
There is no link between these two notions except they share a zone.

Authentication to Secondary Domain Controller initially fails when PDC is offline
Using ldbsearch we can find needed informations if we know AD Sites names
list.
Sites informations are stored in CN=CONFIGURATION,DC=SAMBA,DC=DOMAIN,DC=TLD.
Here there is a CN=Sites which seems to contains Sites informations.
Next using a search with -b
'CN=<site-name>,CN=Sites,CN=CONFIGURATION,DC=SAMBA,DC=DOMAIN,DC=TLD' we can
list object related to <site-name>.
And we

overlaying several subsets of data frame in pairs plot
Hello
I have a multivariate data frame giving various responses for several
treatments. I would like to plot the relationship in the responses in
a pairs plot with different symbols for the different treatments. In a
regular plot I would have used 'matplot' or just added the new
treatments with the 'points' function. But how to do it in a pairs plot?
Thank you for your

Authentication to Secondary Domain Controller initially fails when PDC is offline
Hi James and everyone,
There is a real issue with samba_dnsupdate and DNS records creation with
Samba 4 as AD when it comes to AD Sites.
Samba does not seems to create at all any Site relevant DNS record. As AD
relies on DNS to find DC on the correct AD site, if no DNS entry is created
related to AD Site, no usage of AD Sites.
Here Win client ask for domain

problems with re-loading exported data
Hello,
I have a data file originally as .mat file from matlab that I imported
in R using the R.matlab package (readMat). This loaded a list
containing amongst other things a 4x4 array of rainfall data that is
quite heavy (around 40 Mb, it took 10 minutes to load on my computer).
I tried to export it as R data file or simply a text file (using the
command write) to share this data with

: BIC for gls models
Hi all,
I would like to know how the BIC criterion is calculated for models estimated using gls( ) function. I read in Pinheiro & Bates (2000) p84 that
BIC = -2logL + npar*log(N) (for the ML method), or
BIC = -2logLR + npar*log(N-p) (for the REML method)
but when I use any of these formulae I don't obtain the result given by R.
Thanks in advance for any help.

to combine bwplot + srt option?
Hi R-users,
Could someone help me to combine bwplot and srt option (exemple srt = 45
degree or srt 90 degree)? My graphic contains 146 boxplots, I would like
to label all of them. As you know, labels are not readable.
Thank you for your help in advance!

I have to define a noise level function L and its energy in the various

10^((L+10)/10)

L=L and W = W
