Pre-model Variable Reduction
Hello All, I am trying to carry out variable reduction. I do not have information about the dependent variable, and have only the X variables as it were. In selecting variables I wish to keep, I have considered the following criteria. 1) Percentage of missing value in each column/variable 2) Variance of each variable, with a cut-off value. I recently came across Weka and found that there is an

sftpd problems
Dear developers, I am using OpenSSH 2.9, portable and native OpenBSD versions, and having problems with the scp command. For some reason it fails. The same problem exists if using the SSH.com win/unix scp command. The OpenSSH FAQ says something about shell init files and I tried the ssh myhost /path/to/true stuff on my system and produced no output, stell I can't connect. Thanks in

wbinfo -t -u -g not working
Hi, I have been using a Samba 3.021c server for up to three (3) months now and suddenly, for some strange reason, I can't issue the wbinfo -u or -g commands without getting the error: Error looking up domain users / groups. When I issue the wbinfo -t command I get: checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed error code was (0x0) Could not check secret Thanks God, my

uids/gids changed after upgrade from 3.021c to 3.023
Hi All, Yesterday, I've upgraded my Samba server from 3.021c to 3.023 through yum upgrade samba*. I'm running Fedora Core 4 Kernel 2.6.17-1.2142 on this server. After upgrade has been completed, I lost the attributes of ownership and groups. I noticed that the uids/gids have changed for all AD accounts. This means that users can't have total access for their files and no access

nnet classification accuracy vs. other models
I was wandering if anybody ever tried to compare the classification accuracy of nnet to other (rpart, tree, bagging) models. From what I know, there is no reason to expect a significant difference in classification accuracy between these models, yet in my particular case I get about 10% error rate for tree, rpart and bagging model and 80% error rate for nnet, applied to the same data. Thanks.

Openwebmail dependency problem
Ok, I have to ask. I tried to yum install the latest openwebmail (from the openwebmail repo), and got a transaction check error about a conflict with some packages which are needed by amavisd and spamassassin (packages originating from rpmforge, I think). Below is the yum output. By googling I found a lot of descriptions of the problem, but no solution. - Jussi (...) Resolving Dependencies

Outlier detection with the dprep library
Hi. The dprep library has at least three different methods for outlier detection: baysout, mahaout, robout. I wanted to test them on a very simple data set: vrmat<-cbind((1:22),c(8,14,14,17,21,20,27,23,25,33,31,32,30,36,37,40,42,44,52,61,81,265)) As you can see by eyeballing this, the last point is a very good outlier candidate, and maybe the second to last point, too. Anyway, I

Usage of rJava (.jcall) with Weka functions, any example?
Dear All, I'd like to use Weka functions that are not implemented (do not have interface) in RWeka, like the Remove function and others in the future! The .java() functionality is for that purpose but I haven't seen any example with Weka functions. Could anyone give me hand in how to do it? For instace if I want to use the weka.filters.unsupervised.attribute.Remove? 1. in the R console,
