[Samba] uids/gids changed after upgrade from 3.021c to 3.023
Hi All, Yesterday, I've upgraded my Samba server from 3.021c to 3.023 through yum upgrade samba*. I'm running Fedora Core 4 Kernel 2.6.17-1.2142 on this server. After upgrade has been completed, I lost the attributes of ownership and groups. I noticed that the uids/gids have changed for all AD accounts. This means that users can't have total access for their files and no access for some shares. After this, I read from someone on the mailing list that there will be a new release (3.023a) to fix this. Is this right?. If not, please let me know how to fix it. I need to solve this issue ASAP before trying to fix it manually for all the 500+ users. Thanks in advance. Thanks Jerry, I've noticed that the winbindd_idmap.tdb is different in size in /var/lib/samba from the new /var/cache/samba path. Does this has anything to do. It looks to me that this could be a starting point. I've attached the requested files at Bugzilla Bug 3944. What platform is this? It sounds like perhaps you are on RHEL4 and upgraded via a Samba.org rpm. cheers, jerry ====================================================================Samba ------- http://www.samba.org Centeris ----------- http://www.centeris.com "What man is a man who does not make the world better?" --Balian -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFEvlTxIR7qMdg1EfYRArCLAKCMlRC+78FQzSpjE+qVJZLnfszuDACfW11O HkAumHdCoYUf/692cvTP0Lk=oK44 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Hi guys, Thanks for your responses. So, what would be the steps to take to fix the problem then? Thanks. Getting the 3.0.21c rpm from Samba.org and then running yum update samba would break things since we store our tdb files in /var/lib/samba and the fedora rpms use /var/cache/samba. cheers, jerry ====================================================================Samba ------- http://www.samba.org Centeris ----------- http://www.centeris.com "What man is a man who does not make the world better?" --Balian -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFEvmJ0IR7qMdg1EfYRAlVIAJ0ewUd8SiT5fhztcPAIWSiEdMlz/QCfRfbM NlzxtLQvwaE8hlA99w27Xd0=FIpX -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
