Colours for sunflowerplot
Dear fellow R users,
I would like to draw a "sunflowerplot" because I have data (decade by
month) that plots multiple times on the same x-y co-ordinates. Further I
would like to colour each of the points/sunflower leaves on the plot
according to the group they belong to (i.e. which type of event each
represents within that decade and month). I thought that this would be

bootstrap vs. resampleing
Hi,
I understand bootstrap can be used to estimate 95%
confidence interval for some statistics, e.g.
variance, median, etc. I have someone suggesting that
by resampling certain proportion of the total samples
(e.g. 80%) without replacement, we can also get the
estimate of confidence intervals. Here we have an
example of 1000 obsevations, we would like to estimate
95% confidence intervals for odds

Scatterplot Showing All Points
Hello all,
I'm trying to graph a scatterplot of a large (5,000 x,y coordinates) of data
with the caveat that many of the data points overlap with each other (share the
same x AND y coordinates). In using the usual "plot" command,
> plot(education, xlab="etc", ylab="etc")
it seems that the overlap of points is not shown in the graph. Namely, there

data points. Could someone give me some assistance with this problem

Identifying points in a plot that have duplicate values

formula version of sunflowerplot() fails when axis label specified
Hello, R-help,
does anybody have already a work-around for the problem that the formula
version of sunflowerplot() throws an error when provided with a value for
xlab (or ylab) different from NULL:
> sunflowerplot( Sepal.Length ~ Sepal.Width, data = iris, xlab = "A")
Error in model.frame.default(formula = Sepal.Length ~ Sepal.Width, data = iris, :

Using sunflowerplot to add points in a xyplot panel
Hi,
I use panel.points to add points to a xyplot graphic. But I like to use the
sunflowerplot to plot my points because this is very superimposed. It is
possible to use this? I try but it dont work directly. It may be need to put
this function inside a panel.???
Thanks

Hi,
I create a plot using sunflowerplot, I need to highlight one point to show
its importance. What suggestion you have to accomplish this?
Thanks,

Has many through join table issues
I''m trying to wrap my caffeine soaked brain around has_many :through

I think my models are a little more complex than what fits this

I have a directory of members, each member can belong to multiple

Sunflower plot error; how to deal with NA
I suspect the problem stems from the fact that there are a couple of NA
values.
> sunflowerplot(lastoto,maxear)
Error in rep.int(i.multi, number[number > 1]) :
invalid number of copies in rep.int()
So I used the subset command to get rid of the cases with NA
hell<-subset(ChinOtoMayB,is.na(lastoto)==FALSE)
Then it worked perfectly
sunflowerplot(hell$lastoto,hell$maxear)

Beginner Q: Keeping the Ruby on Rails platform up to date.

I figured out how to keep my ruby on rails up to date by using the

Use of colour in plots
Dear all,
I have 3 datasets all of which share the same longitude and latitude values, which I'm looking to plot onto a scattergraph. The third dataset has values which can only be either '1' or '2'. So to incorporate all three datasets onto two axes, I'm wondering if I can plot dataset1 and dataset2 as normal, but then use colour to determine whether these points are

number plot symbol in scatterplot?
If I make a scatterplot and several (e.g. 5) points lie on top of each other
at a given x,y location I would like the plot symbol to be the number of
superimposed points (e.g. "5"). Could someone please tell me how to do this
in R? Thanks!

sorting a matrix by the column
this is a bad question but I can't figure it out and i've tried. if i
sort the 2 column
matrix , temp1, by the first column, then things work as expected. But,
if I sort the 1 column matrix, temp2, then it gets turned coerced to a
vector. I realize that I
need to use drop=FALSE but i've put it in a few different places with no
success. Thanks.

I have 2 dataframes, temp1 and temp2.
Each dataframe has 20 variables (“cocolumns") and 525 observations (“rows”). All variables are numeric.
I want to create a new dataframe that also has 20 columns and 525 rows. The values in this dataframe should be the sum of the 2 other dataframe.

Basically I can tell that the fixtures are not getting loaded. All 100
tests fail with a similar error.
But I don''t know why. Below is the code, with my narrative with ***

Excuse the question as I'm sure those more experienced will find it simple.
I've a CentOS5.1 box with six physical drives, two of which are used for
