How to use expression in label with xYplot
Dear R-List, I want to use the label function (from Hmisc library) to allow for the names of my isotopes. library(Hmisc) library(lattice) library(grid) num <- c("78","137","129m") nom <- c("Ge","Cs","Te") df <- data.frame(GE78=seq(nom),CS137=seq(nom),TE129m=seq(nom)) if I use this function to create the labels : lab <-

Isotopic notation in plots
I really like to use R for all my graphs, and as I work with stable isotopes I want to have a proper chemical notation in my plots I have looked at ?plotmath, but didn't find the answer and also searched the R website. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- plot(1:10,xlab=expression(^{14}*C)) # I want to have a superscript with nothing in front, but it

Properly Parsing Pre-Superscripts & Displaying Them With grid.text
Hi all... I?m making a chart dealing with frequencies of isotopes of various elements. For instance, I'd like the following text to appear on a chart with the "35" and "37" as superscripts: Based upon: 35Cl: 75% 37Cl: 25% I am having problems properly parsing the superscript that preceeds the "Cl", since there is no character ahead of the superscript (I saw

lattice: How to vertically adjust an axis label?
Dear expeRts, How can I vertically adjust an axis tick label so that it is nicely aligned with the other labels? library(lattice) xyplot(0~0, xlim=c(0,3), scales=list(x=list(at=c(1,1.1), labels=c(expression(hat(theta)[italic(n)]),expression(theta))))) ## aim: move the leftmost expression up so that theta is nicely aligned with the second theta. lattice: horizontal alignment of labels in key
Dear R users I have problems horizontally aligning labels in keys of lattice plots when the labels make use of plotmath. Here's a self-contained example: dat <- data.frame(x = rnorm(10), y = rnorm(10), z = factor(rep(c("a", "b"), each = 5))) xyplot(y ~ x, dat, groups = z, auto.key = list(columns = 2, text =

problem with axis labels
Dear R users, Below are some R commands which produce a y-axis label that is not wholly in the viewing area of the eps file (or the x11 window). I have tried experimenting with the postscript bounding box, and using such R commands as over(phantom(0),...) but I make the whole y-label visible. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I may fix this. (Please CC mailing list email to p.stansell

Align expression and text in mtext()
Dear R-helpers, I have trouble aligning an expression with a subscript, and text, in margin text: par(mar=c(6,6,1,1)) b <- barplot(1:3) mtext(c("A","B","C"), at=b, side=1, line=1, cex=1.3) mtext(expression(italic(C)[a]~(more~text)), at=0, line=1, side=1,cex=1.3) As explained in the help files and elsewhere, I understand that the expression is aligned by the

mtext uses the typographical descender to align text
<> Hello One sometimes (quite often really ) marvel at the choice of defaults in R's graphic engine. For some obscure reason, mtext uses the typographical descender (bottom of letters) to align text. That is: "gG" will end up slightly higher that "GG". Depending on the font, "Q" might end up higher than "O". (for explanation of baseline

NLS and fitting of x-values?
I collected eggs laid by Springtails everyday over 28 days after swich to isotopically enriched diet. The eggs were pooled at day 7, 14, and 28 (+ day 0 = initial value) and analyzed for isotopes. After the diet switch the isotopic values of the adults and eggs change towards those of the new diet. Here are the d13C values (y) of the eggs: x y 0 -22.2 0 -22.2 0 -22.2 0 -22.0 7

isotope superscripts ggplot2
Happy Friday fellow R users. I need some help - I am trying to make a graph using ggplot 2 of some lead isotope ratios. Normally, the isotope mass number appears as a superscript before the chemical symbol. However, I cannot figure out how to do this ggplot2's axis labels. The closest I have come is using "." In front of the numbers I am superscripting e.g: ggplot(....

rhub vs. CRAN fedora-*-devel, using armadillo & slapack
Thank you for your answer. In facts, 10 threads are asked by armadillo for some LinAlg, which backs to two threads as warned. But I cannot imagine this costs so much time just for that... A deeper analysis of time spent seems to point that a large time was mainly spent on testthat and Rcpp dependencies compilation... But other recent packages depending on these also are not spending so much time.

Quiz: Who finds the nicest form of X_1^\prime?
Dear expeRts, I would like to create a plotmath-label of the form X_1^\prime. Here is how to *not* do it [not nicely aligned symbols]: plot(0,0,main=expression(italic(X*minute[1]))) plot(0,0,main=expression(italic(X[1]*minute))) plot(0,0,main=expression(italic(X)[1]*minute)) Any suggestions? Cheers, Marius

Marvell, IOMMU/VT-d, and pci-phantom
Hi, guys. I''ve been trying to use the pci-phantom command line options to xen so as to work around the hardware issue with the Marvell 88SE91xx SATA controllers in IOMMU ([Intel:] VT-d) mode, but I cannot seem to get my head around it. From having had a glance here: http://xenbits.xen.org/docs/unstable/misc/xen-command-line.html and in particular the syntax described as such:
