FW: why is it numeric(0)?
hello,everyone. I have one question: example 1 > x=numeric(0) > y=5 > print(x+y) numeric(0) example 2 > x=numeric(1) > y=5 > print(x+y) [1] 5 why the print(x+y) is numeric(0) at the first example, but the result is 0 at the second example? __________________________________________________ 佈伵伝仮伱佲伔佈G佊伿佅佷仯伃佒佇伖侜伒佢佉伝伨侙佄佫伬伂伝侙佊伿伡侢伾仹伻伵伋伂伌侒佊伿佅佷

May I ask you a question about matrix population models?
Dear R user: Now I am studying "matrix population models" and Rmetasim package, but I find it's very difficult to understand this model fully and can't find a good teacher. My question is that:Now I do some research about one marine shrimp: Penaeus chinensis, it's life cycle is one year. after it breed it's offsprings, it will died. Re: Applications of TDMoE "critch"
Juan, I dont see people here with "attitude" or any need to shut down this list as you suggested. Contrary to your experience, I find people to be quite helpful here. Steven's comment "Start here and then ask a real question" is definitely not arrogant IMHO. He is just trying to knock some etiquette on Luan. Besides, he did give him all the answer Luan was looking for.

beta binomial distribution installation
Hi there, It looks like you also need the bioconductor package biobase, I found instructions for downloading that package here: www.bioconductor.org/install Good luck. beta binomial distribution installation
Hi, I did a quick search for other packages that provide the beta binomial distribution and found "rmutil". > install.packages("rmutil") The package has the CDF (pbetabinom) and inverse CDF (qbetabinom) among other functions. beta binomial distribution installation
Hello, Thank you for your response. I need to install RankTail package since it contains the beta binomial distribution, CDF and inverse CDF in the usual form which I need to use. However rmutil package contain unusual forms for these functions. So it is easier for me to deal with the forms are contained in RankTail. I tried to install bioconductor package, using the following commands but I

Overlapping x axes using Lattice
Hi R users I apologise in advance for this question as I suspect it is simple and perhaps others have had this problem. I am struggling to sort out how to fix the x axes so that the labels don't overlap. I have put the following example together to show my problem. library(lattice) titre <- as.factor(rep(c(10999,20999,30999,40999,50999,60999,

Spatial join between two datasets using x and y co-ordinates
Hi R users I am trying to create a spatial join between two datasets. The first data set is large and contains descriptive data including x and y co-ordinates. The second dataset is small and has been selected spatially. The only data contained within the second dataset is the x and y coordinates only i.e. no descriptive data. The aim of a join made between the two datasets is to select

Recode of text variables
