R on SuSe 9.2 AMD 64 bit: Solved
Hi everybody, I just downloaded the file R-2.0.1.tar.gz and followed the instruction written in doc/R-admin.html. In particular we installed for SuSe 9.2 AMD64 the following packages: gcc, gcc++, gcc-g77, Perl, te-latex, te-pdf, libpng, libbz, PCRE, Tcl/Tk, BLAS, LAPACK. After we just made: ./configure make make check make install (from root) make install-info make install-pdf Now everything

Fitting automatically empirical data
Hi, I'm using R to find esplicit functions fitting set of data. The data contains about 30 points, which have different weights (number of cases represented from the point). I plot the points, choose "by eye" a function made with exp or arctg or polinomial and use nlm to minimaze the root mean error with correct the weights. For Example: Err <- function(p) sum((weight*(y

Shorewall 2.2.4 problem with SuSe 9.2.
Hello all, I''ve recently upgraded a Suse 9.1 box to Suse 9.2 (reinstall actually). This is mainly a test server that I use for testing our device with nat/snat etc. I just got around to reinstalling Shorewall 2.2.4, and I''m having an odd problem at startup I was hoping someone could perhaps shed some light on. I''ve created a very basic setup just to get Shorewall

Assist on R-2.0.0 /64 bit AMD/SuSE 9.1
Hi Folks, I compiled and installed Assist-0.1.0; I'm using R-2.0.0 running on SuSe Linux, on a dual AMD64 machine. However, I (apparently randomly) get segmentation faults when I use cubic2. Any ideas? Thanks Simon -- Simon D.W. Frost, MA DPhil Adjunct Assistant Professor Department of Pathology University of California, San Diego UCSD Antiviral Research Center 150 W. Washington St. San

Problem compiling R 2.1.* on SUSE 9.2
I have been unable to compile either R 2.1.0 or 2.1.1 under SUSE 9.2. The system simply hangs as far as I can tell. All key board and mouse service dies. I have had no problem compiling earlier versions of R through 2.0.1, aside from remembering to include readline in the configuration. Configure runs without any warnings except that Info or html versions of the R Manuals. The SUSE 9.2

PR$7706, png device plot on athlon 64 processor
A later bug report (#7860) had to do with inappropriate sizing of the first text drawn on a png() device, and I've now fixed the bug that caused that. Could you please check whether you still see your bug on today's build? It will be available on CRAN tomorrow (May 15), in http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html Thanks! 32 vs 64 bit
I ran R on an AMD Athlon 64 with a 32 bit Linux (by accident, I moved the hard disk from another machine). Now, after install 64 bit Linux and 64 bit R, I am finding some of my R tests are quite a bit slower, I think because memory demands cause a lot of swap. Does anyone know if extra memory usage would be mainly because of R itself, or is there a lot of extra memory demand because of the

64 bit application on 32 bit machine
Yes, that's right! I tried a search, but the (Google) search engine told me that I don't know what I am talking about! I downloaded an application DfuSe, and tried to install it. Wine installer told me that I needed another program and offered to download. I agreed, but this was unsuccessful. However the Install Wizard went ahead and installed. But trying to run was a failure. Today, I

qqnorm in R-0.63.3
Dear List, invoking qqnorm-plots in Version 63.3 produces funny things: using the option `type="s"ยด on qqnorm should give a nice *line* of observed quantiles. Now, the line is walking along in order to the points index instead from lowest to highest, wich makes funny slopes. try x <- table(rnorm(1000) # or similar and qqnorm(x,type="s") # in 0.63.2 and 63.3 Well, the

Ess packages for Suse-9.2 available ?
Hi, I've just managed to install R on Suse-9.2. Unfortunately there seem to be no Ess packages in Suse distri available. Doesn't seem like that Suse is ever to integrate these packages (since 2000)!? Are there any precompiled binaries around? So far I haven't been lucky to find any of them on rpmfind and similar sites. Maybe someone has already Ess binary for Suse-9.2 and is willing

Installing a TE100P (Digium) card over Suse 9.2..
Hi everybody, I managed to install card over Suse 9.2, I substituted Zaptel drivers and compiled them. Now "ztcfg" says I have one card with correctly configured 31 channels, but red led on back of card doesn't flash. Suse 9.2 has detected the card as a Tiger Jet card, since the chip on it is a Tiger 320. The second card configuration is still waiting for configuration, but I think

Wine and AMD 64 in Suse 9.3
Hi. I have to use a comercial Windows software in my work, called Cosilab. Last two months I was using Debian and wine 0.9.1 and everything went perfect. The Program works fine under wine and I haven't got any problems. Now I've updated my computer to an AMD64 with 2Ghz Processor and I do not know if the problem with wine is caused by the 64 bits processor or why... I try to run the
