Mixreg package
Dear R users
it's my first time using R and I am specially interested in doing analyses with the "mixreg" package.
I use W2000 but it seems the code for R is available only for Linux Os. Anyway I I downloaded the *tar.gz file of the package for R and the converted it in a *zip file.
Apparently the installation process was ok, but when loading it I got the following error:

help on EM Algorithm for bivariate normal
Hi,
I woul like to know if it is possible to have a "R code" to generate EM
Algorithm for a normal bivariate mixture.
Best regard,

Error in f(x, ...) : subscript out of bounds
R-Listers:
I am doing a quasi-maximum likelihood estimation and I get a "subscript
out of bound" error message, Typically I would think this means that a
subscript used in the function is literally out of bounds however I don't
think this is the case. All I change in the code is a constant, that is
hard-wired in (not data dependent and not parameter dependent),

HELP with NLME
Hi,
I was very much hoping someone could help me with the following.
I am trying to convert some SAS NLMIXED code to NLME in R (v.2.1),
but I get an error message. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I think my error is with the random effect "u" which seems to be
parametrized differently in the SAS code. In case it's helpful,
what I am essentially trying to do is estimate parameters

Mixture Analysis
Dear all,
Does anyone know if the mixture analysis (i.e : sexual dimorphism, age group,…) can be done with R software ? Thanks for your help

Conjoint in R
Hello all,
I am trying to apply a conjoint analysis in order to determine the best
profile that captures the most preferred combination of levels of given
categorical factors.
For this a set of factors is given and initially a fractional factorial
design has to be produced as a subset of all possible factor levels
combinations, sufficient to estimate the main effects utilities.
Then the

Re: R vrs S
Hi, I am relatively new to R programming. I have Guido's version on a
Win95 Pentium with 32 Mb RAM.
I tried to compile the Package MIXREG of Rolf Turner in S to R
almost everything works OK but he has a function po = partial outer
product as follows:
po <- function(a,b) {
array(apply(b,2,"*",a),dim=c(dim(a),dim(b)[2]))) }
in S-Plus given

I can´t run the example shown in the inline package
I want to run some R script using the inline package (which allows to create
and run inline C++ code in my humble understanding).
So, after loading the required packages and copy and paste the example that
runs C code (in the Reference Manual as a PDF), I have a compilation error.
Any body has ever tried this inline package?

Using bartMachine with the caret package
Dave Langer in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8PRU46I3NY
uses the titanic data as an example of using caret to create xgbTree
models. The caret train() function has a tuneGrid parameter which
takes a list set up like so:
tune.grid <- expand.grid(eta = c(0.05, 0.075, 0.1),
nrounds = c(50, 75, 100),
max_depth = 6:8,

Error in solve.default
I am trying to run the following function (a hierarchical bayes linear
model) and receive the error in solve.default. The function was
originally written for an older version of SPlus. Can anyone give me some
insights into where the problem is?
Thanks

Need help on Mclus output
Dear useRs,
I have fitted a mixture with 4 normal components on a univariate distribution using the Mclust package.
Now, I would like to get a variable with the cluster membership of each class, or in alternative a variable with the posterior probabilities for each component.
Also I cannot find where are the paramenters estimates for each component ,i.e. means and variances.

MS executables for my libraries
An executable version 0.6 of my libraries is now available at
www.luc.ac.be/~jlindsey/rcode.html
This works with MS R0.64.2 and appears possibly to work with R65.0.
There is a serious problem with the Fortran compiler as some of the
examples for elliptic and carma crash it. These same examples do not crash
R63.0 with the library executables of Jan 99. I am releasing this anyway
because of the

OO model style: inheritance
Hi everybody
I am totally new to rails and I am trying to start a
tiny project to get familiar with rails. But I already
got my first problem and I would be happy if somebody
could point me in the best and cleanest direction.
I am trying to develop a small gallery app. Since I
would like to add more features in future I am trying
to design a clean OO architecture of my models:

Translating NLMIXED in nlme

Problem in loading all packages all at once
Hi All
Please see the Rprofile file which i have modified as follows and after
that when I start R then I see that R says to me "TRUE" for all the
packages implying that all loaded at once.
But when i try to use commands as simple as help("lm"), it doesnt work nor
any of the menu "Packages" is not working.
Although the regression using lm ( Y ~ X ) is working

Detecting compilation under R
The docs tell me:
"The header files define USING_R, which should be used to test if the
code is indeed being used with R."
but surely you only get that if you #include <R.h>, which you can only
do if you are using R. If you have code that you might want to compile
in R and for other purposes, how can you detect this?
As an example, suppose I have some C that uses GSL to get

xyplot/levelplot: thickness of tickmarks
Hi,
if I use the xyplot (or levelplot) function (lattice library) with
the option axs="i", I have the problem that the tickmarks lie a bit
outside the "plot-box". Consider for example:
library(lattice)
x<-seq(0,1,by=0.01)
y<-seq(0,1,by=0.01)
xyplot(y~x,type="l",xlim=c(0,1),ylim=c(0,1),scales=list

Adding weights to optim
I realize this may be more of a math question. I have the following optim:
optim(c(0.0,1.0),logis.op,x=d1_all$SOA,y=as.numeric(md1[,i]))
which uses the following function:
logis.op <- function(p,x,y) {
ypred <- 1.0 / (1.0 + exp((p[1] - x) / p[2]));
res <- sum((y-ypred)^2)
return(res)
}
I would like to add weights to the optim. Do I have to alter the logis.op
function by
