corrupt data frame: columns will be truncated or padded with NAs in: format.data.frame(x, digits = digits)
Hello R users! I have written one function (look at the end), which will ease my work with analysis of data in another programme, for which I need sometimes a special data structure. However I encountered several problems with a created data frame. --------------------------------------------------------------- The data frame (produced from the example at the end) looks like the way I want

corrupt data frame: columns will be truncated or padded with NAs in: format.data.frame(x, digits = digits)
Hello! I posted on saturday mail with the same subject on r-help seeking for help in my work, but now I realized that this list is more appropriate for this. I think I found I bug. Bellow are comments and reproducible examples: # Create a data frame (tmp <- data.frame(y1=1:4, f1=factor(c("A", "B", "C", "D")))) y1 f1 1 1 A 2 2 B 3 3 C 4 4 D #

Programming/scripting with "expressions - variables"
Hello to Rusers! I am puzzled with R and I really do not know where to look in for my problem. I am moving from SAS and I have difficulties in translating SAS to R world. I hope I will get some hints or pointers so I can study from there on. I would like to do something like this. In SAS I can write a macro as example bellow, which is afcourse a silly one but shows what I don't know how

Re: Cross-building R packages
Jun hi again! Sorry for bothering. Although I had no problem with building Windows package under Linux, I noticed that man pages are not processed as they should or maybe I have a problem with my setup. My package is called 'GeneticsPed'. Instead of HTML or text files I just got a GeneticsPed.Rd.gz in man directory of a package (this is within GeneticsPed_0.1.zip file!). The file

Bug?: summary() fails after use of na.action="na.exclude" in lm()
Hello! I have encountered a weird problem and I am wondering if this is a bug. Here is the example: n <- 50 x <- runif(n=n) y1 <- 2 * x + rnorm(n=n) y2 <- 5 * x + rnorm(n=n) y2[sample(1:n, size=5)] <- NA y <- cbind(y1, y2) fit <- lm(y1 ~ 1, na.action="na.exclude") summary(fit) ## Goes ok here fit <- lm(y2 ~ 1, na.action="na.exclude") summary(fit)

Summary() fails after use of na.action="na.exclude" in lm() (PR#9191)
Hello! I have already reported on this behaviour at [1] and now I have checked the same example on r-devel and the problem is still there. Thomas Lumley inidicated problem [2]. Example: n <- 50 x <- runif(n=n) y1 <- 2 * x + rnorm(n=n) y2 <- 5 * x + rnorm(n=n) y2[sample(1:n, size=5)] <- NA y <- cbind(y1, y2) ## Goes ok here fit <- lm(y1 ~ 1,

Global setting for na.rm=TRUE
Hello! Is it possible to set na.rm=TRUE in a global way? I'am constantly forgeting on this when performing analyses. I agree that one should be carefull with this when developing some code, but not necesarilly so in data analysis. F90
Hello! Has anyone successfully compiled F90 sources in R-package? I found the same question on r-devel list from 2002 and I wonder if there is any progress. I heard that g95 and gfortran can be usable. And one more thing. I have a program written in F90 and lets suppose that compiler is not a problem. I've read manual 'Writing R Extensions' and successfully loaded one F77 subroutine

Constrain coefs. in linear model to sum to 0
Hello! I would like to use constrain to sum coeficients of a factor to 0 instead of classical corner contraint i.e. I would like to fit a model like lm(y ~ 1 + effectA + effectB) and say get parameters intercept effectA_1 effectA_2 effectB_1 effectB_2 effectB_3 where effectA_1 represents deviation of level A_1 from intercept and sum(effectA_1, effectA_2) = 0 and the same for factor B. How long is winepath available?
Hello! Can someone provide me an estimate or relevant source of information on how long is command winepath available or from wich version of wine? I would need this as I work on some R[1] package R2WinBUGS[2] that calls a Windows program WinBUGS[3] and that program needs windows paths. Currently winepath or parsing of .wine/config is used and I wonder if I can remove fiddling with .wine/.config.
