Mailing list software
For a project I''m working on I''m hoping to be able to have both discussion and announce-only e-mail lists. Does anybody have any recommendations about good existing mailing list apps that could be integrated with a rails app? Does anybody have any experience using ActionMailer as the basis for a mass mailer? Does it perform well enough to make it feasible? Thanks! -- Dan

I doubt that their has been any development work on bringing vorbis to the Mac. I am trying to do just that. I want to know whether you think I should try to port it using the various components tht are being used to bring vorbis to Be and others OR if i should wait till September when the public beta of Mac Os X ( which is based on Unix). I have been told that unix stuff will be fairly

Tabulation and missing values
I think this is one for Gabor. I don't seem to be able to find my way to an answer despite numerous rereadings of factor and table. Here is a toy example: ### Some data EthnicCode <- c("European/Other", NA, "European/Other", "European/Other", "Pacific", "European/Other", "European/Other",

OT: Recommendation for a good Internationalized terminal software
Hi all, We've got server-based application that runs on CentOS. Until now, most of our customer's end-users have accessed the application using either PuTTY or Teraterm. I was asked yesterday to try and find internationalized add ons or alternatives for our new Asian customers (Japan, Korea and China atm). I figured if anyone would be able to recommend terminal emulation

Complicated For Loop (to me)
Hello, I'm trying to run a loop that will subset my data into specific sets by regions and by race/ethnicity. I'm trying to do this fairly compactly, and I cannot get this to work. A "simple" version of the code that I am trying to run is: names <- c("white", "black", "asian", "hispanic") for(j in names){ for(i in 1:9){

Binning or grouping data
Newbie here. Many apologies in advance for using the incorrect lingo. I'm new to statistics and VERY new to R. I'm attempting to "group" or "bin" data together in order to analyze them as a combined group rather than as discrete set. I'll provide a simple example of the data for illustrative purposes. [LLVMdev] Compiler name: Nāga
Hi, the idea of a dragon theme reminded me of the dragon-like serpents called "Nāga" from Cambodian mythology, among other places. Here's a brief link explaining the specific Cambodian meaning - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_(mythology)#N.C4.81gas_in_Cambodia I like this as a name, because it's unique short and easy to type and remember (as long as you omit the accent,

DIDs anywhere but here?
Are there affordable DIDs (preferably IAX) available anywhere outside the US? I want to use it to meet ICANN requirements for providing a valid phone number, yet pre-empting some of the telemarketing calls my domain registrations generate. (Yes, I asked a similar question about 900# availability before). I'd prefer to have a number somewhere outside the NANP, preferably an asian country.

multiple connection (be careful with carrier-grade NAT)
Hi, Yes I aware to the NAT possibility, But let's assume that this is the issue, there is no reason that 30 listeners >From the same country will connect and disconnect at the same time range... I'm pretty sure that its individual listener/IP. I deleted the Access log files, but in the next time that I will catch similar situation again, I will complete the investigation. Nobody from

Creating a map with central Asian countries
Dear all, I am trying to create a map for central asian countries(Kazakhstan, Uzbekstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenstan, and Tajikstan). I tried google for shapefiles and Rdata files of central asia, but I can't seem to find them. There is only a world map and individual maps for each countries. If I use individual maps to create this map, how do I put them on a same graphic with different colours?

searching with chinese chars
Hi all, maybe not a Ferret question, but I assume here might have came across that already. I wrote a simple CGI app that adds docs into a Ferret index. The idea is testing asian languages input and searching. The script that does the input seems to be OK. As David mentioned in a question I made a little while ago, Ferret''s index is agnostic, in the sense that you can store anything in
