color2d.maplot error
Dear all I am using color2D.maplot to map some matrixes to plot. everything works fine. It seems that when my matrix contains only the same value color2D.maplot returns the following error: color2D.matplot(estimatedsr,redrange=c(0,1),greenrange=c(0,.5),bluerange=c(0,.5),xlab="x",ylab="y",main=sprintf('Estimated'),show.legend=TRUE,show.values=TRUE) Error in rgb(reds,

creating rainbow gradients
Hi, how can I create a rainbow gradient in R? For example, let's say I have a plot of y = x...and I want the plot to go from red -> orange -> yellow -> green -> blue -> etc. Right now, I know how to do something like go from red to blue, using the plotrix library: library(plotrix) redToBlue <-

Colour-coding intervals on a line
Hi, This is a simple version of something that I am trying to do. If I can sort the problem basically, I figure I should be able to sort it for the program I'm writing (which would take longer to explain). I need to know if there is any way of using different colours for different intervals of a line on a graph. Eg. If I plot the line y=x for x=1:10, and split this line into 106 intervals

(no subject)
Hi all, I am looking for a clever way to create the following graph using R: I got information on the shares of some subgroups over time (summing up to 1 in each year). The graph I want to create should display the development of the individual shares over time by shading rectangulars for each share in a different color. Is there a clever of doing this? Thanks for your help Stefan

Categorical bubble plot
Hi, I do not have much R experience just the basics, so please excuse any obvious questions. I would like to create bubble plot that have Categorical data on the x and y axis and then the diameter if the bubble the value related to x and y. Attached to the email is a pic of what I would like to do. I do hope someone can help me. -- Regards/Groete/Mit freundlichen Gr??en/recuerdos/meilleures

Question about graphics in R
Considering the R function/plot shown below, I wonder whether it is possible to do the following changes: (1) Change the color of each point to be picked from list of colors according to its z-value. (The range should be from blue (z=0) to red (z=1).) The grid should then be omitted. [I have seen "terrain.colors", but don't know how to use it for this purpose.] (2) Add two lines to

plotrix_3.2
Hi all, plotrix 3.2 has arrived. The reason for this announcement is that there have been a couple of major rewrites. The barNest family of functions has had an overhaul that began as a fix for an apparently trivial bug that caused problems with empty subcategories. So far, testing has not found anything that will break code written for the former version. color.scale will now convert

color scale in rgl plots
Hello, I'm trying to make a 3d plot using rgl in which the size and color of each point corresponds to certain attributes of each data point. The color attribute, let's call it X, is scaled to go from 0 to 1. The rainbow(64,start=0.7,end=0.1) palette is perfect for what I want but I don't know how to take that palette and pick a color from it based on the value of X for a given data

How to xyplot without borders
Hello I have the following data.frame and xyplot. I need this plot without the borders. Does anybody know how to get this xyplot without borders o with white borders? Thank's in advance Juan Hernández my.label <- data.frame(quantil=rep(20,8), my.factor=factor(c('FA','FB','FC','FD','FE','FG','FH','FI'))) library(lattice)

[R] proposal: lattice/levelplot: panel.catlevelplot
I suggest to add a panel function to levelplot (or perhaps to an other 3d lattice function) which is able to translate the z values into the size of the rectangles. It could be used to display categorical data. I append the proposed code and two examples: - panel.catlevelplot() - example1.catlevelplot.esoph() - example2.catlevelplot.esoph() Wolfram Fischer #------ CODE

Combined Marimekko/heatmap
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out a way to create a data graphic that I haven't ever seen an example of before, but hopefully there's an R package out there for it. The idea is to essentially create a heatmap, but to allow each column and/or row to be a different width, rather than having uniform column and row height. This is sort of like a Marimekko chart in appearance, except that

Multiple lines with a different color assigned to each line (corrected code)
Sorry, I just realized I didn't type in the correct names of the variables I am working with, this is how it should be: plot(1,1,type="n") for (i in summ$tx) { points(summ$timep[summ$tx==i],summ$mn[summ$tx==i]) lines(summ$timep[summ$tx==i],summ$mn[summ$tx==i]) } Thank you, Judith ____________________________________________________________________________________

global objects not overwritten within function
Dear useRs, I have a function that creates several global objects with assign("obj",obj,.GlobalEnv), and which I need to run iteratively in another function. The code is similar to f <- function(...) { assign("obj",obj,.GlobalEnv) } fct <- function(...) { for (i in 1:1000) { ... f(...) ...obj... rm(obj) #code fails without this line } } I don't understand

Using barplot() with zoo -- names.arg not permitted?
I've used barplot(), including the anmes.arg parameter, on data frames successfully, but I'm even newer to using zoo than I am to R. :-} I am working on a functon that accepts a data frame ("df") as its primary argument, extracts information from it to create a zoo, then generates a plot based on that. The data frame has a column called "time" which is a standard

Scatter Plot in R - Help
Dear All, I am using the following commands to do the scatter plot of two vectors, say X and Y. plot(X,Y, col="blue") abline(a=1,b=1, col="red") abline(a=-1,b=1, col="green") I would like to split the scatter plot into 3 part with 3 different colors: (i) points lies between 2 lines, (ii) points above line 1, and (iii) points below line 2. looking for a plot function
Dear useRs, I have a data frame and I want to plot all rows. Each row is represented as a line that links the values in each column. The plot looks like this: dfr <- data.frame(A=sample(1:50,10),B=sample(1:50,10), C=sample(1:50,10),D=sample(1:50,10)) xa <- 10*1:4 plot(c(10,40),c(0,50)) for (i in 1:nrow(dfr)) { lines(xa,dfr[i,],pch=20,type="o") } Things get more complicated

read "4-jan-02" as date
Dear R users, I have a column with dates (character) in a data frame: 12-Jan-01 11-Jan-01 10-Jan-01 9-Jan-01 8-Jan-01 5-Jan-01 and I need to convert them to (Julian) dates so that I can sort the whole data frame by date. I thought it would be very simple, but after checking the documentation and the list I still don't have something that works. 1. as.Date returns the error below. What am I

incomplete function output
Dear R users, I have a function (below) which encompasses several tests. However, when I run it, only the output of the last test is displayed. How can I ensure that the function root(var) will run and display the output from all tests, and not just the last one? Thank you, b. root <- function(var) { #---Phillips-Perron PP.test(var, lshort = TRUE) PP.test(var, lshort = FALSE)

color2D.matplot
I am a true R novice aonly using it for this function ;) I am trying to use color2D.matplot to form a image of my data using the following conditions color2D.matplot(fi1, c(dr), c(dg), c(db), nslices=7, ylab='Species', xlab="gene", show.legend=TRUE) where fi1 is my matrix. I have a matrix with 36 columns and 130 rows. most entries are 1 or 0 and I am trying to get this

density estimation: compute sum(value * probability) for given distribution
Dear R users, This is a KDE beginner's question. I have this distribution: > length(cap) [1] 200 > summary(cap) Min. 1st Qu. Median Mean 3rd Qu. Max. 459.9 802.3 991.6 1066.0 1242.0 2382.0 I need to compute the sum of the values times their probability of occurence. The graph is fine, den <- density(cap, from=min(cap), to=max(cap), give.Rkern=F)
