Building packages in XP
R users,
I recently upgraded (?) to Windows XP from 2000. I am trying to build an R
package. I have done this many times on my old system and I am not sure why
it is not working in XP.
To build the package I call a bat file that specifies all the necessary
paths -- but the "build" file (which appears to be a perl script) is looking
for a "src" subdirectory in the src

building packages on windows
Has anyone had success building a package on a windows machine?
I am trying the following command with no luck (perhaps my flags are
incorrect?). At this point I am stuck. Any help greatly appreciated.

(BTW - I have no idea why it cannot find sh.exe since I have it is a
directory that is specified in a path statement)

Interaction contrasts or posthoc test for glm (MASS) with ANOVA design
Dear R experts
I am running a negative-binomial GLM (glm.nb) to test the null hypotheses
that species 1 and 2 are equally abundant between site 1 and site2, and
between each other. So, I have a 2x2 factorial design with factors Site
(1,2) and Taxon (1,2).
Since the Site:Taxon interaction is significant, I need to do the equivalent
to a "post-hoc test" for ANOVA, however, the same tests

Compiling R Package on Windows
I just installed the R-patched 1.4.0 and for some reason I now have
trouble compiling R packages - I could compile it a few weeks ago with R
1.4.0 released in December. This only happens if I put the --binary
option in.
For example:
Rcmd build --binary cw
returns the error:

ape comparative analysis query
I've been comparing variables among objects (taxa) related by known
trees, using phylogentically independent contrasts in the ape package,
and want to move on to more complex models e.g. by using gls with
appropriate correlation terms. My trees contain lots of (hard)
polytomies and information about ancestors, which I've been including-
creating fully dichotomous trees by using zero branch

Using a string as a variable name - revisited
I would like to revisit a problem that was discussed previously (see
quoted discussion below). I am trying to do the same thing, using a
string to indicate a column with the same name. I am making "foo" a
string taken from a list of names. It matches the row where "item" =
5, and picks the corresponding "taxon"
> foo <- list$taxon[match(5,list$item)]

Build package for R 2.0.1 under Windows
This summer I and a colleague built a package for R v 1.9.1 containing
C-code under Windows. That only worked for us when
R was installed in c:\program files\R. Now I have R v 2.0.1 and the same
package won't build. I get the following

Problems compiling C code on windows
Hi all,
I can't get my C routines running on a windows box. I have no problems at
all in Linux.
On windows, I have installed cygwin and the compilation works well but once
I execute "dyn.load(.)" it hangs whatever I use C/C++ interfaces.
In Linux it works wonderful but I need to get this code running on windows
boxes.
I know that the problem should be something with the

Package Installation in RGui (PR#7262)
In reference to the thread
http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04/10/0859.html
I have the same problem updating packages with newly-installed version of
released version of R 2.0.1. Previous posts refer to a bug in windows. I
wonder if there is a work-around? This probably should go to R-help but it
follows on from the post in R-devel. Apologies in advance.

Installing a Package in Windows 2000
I'm using R 1.4.1 under Windows 2000 and am experiencing difficulty
installing a package. I've included an example output using Rcmd build,
but the same problem occurs with Rcmd check and Rcmd INSTALL. The error
(make[1]: /bin/sh.exe: Command not found) is not a new one - it's
referenced in readme.packages among other locations. I've placed a copy
of sh.exe in C:\bin, but it

build rpvm under cygwin
I tried ot build rpvm in my own makefile.
But runs into some linker errors like e.g.

My enviornment looks like this:

R installed from the rw2001.exe setup file.
I guess that the R under rw2001.exe was build with
some other compiler?
I then tried to compile R myself under CYGWIN but runs

Vegan: how to plot sites labes in diversity plot
Dear List,
I can'f figure how to add point labels in the next plot (example from

Calculate an equation
Dear all,
I was wondering if you could help me with the following.
I want to do calculate this equation:
Ps(t)= (?_(r=1)^N Xtr* 1/?drs)/(?_(r=1)^N 1/?drs)
Ps(t) ? Probability that taxon t will occur at site s (300 sites s)
N ? Number of sites = from 1 to 49
Xtr ? Value for taxon t at site r (I have this information in a table, 40
taxa (columns) t, 49 sites r)
drs ? Distance from site r to

help with creating package
Hello,
I'm trying to create a source package (on Win2k system). I followed the

the DOS path to it.
Then I did "Rcmd check" and had an error:

I'm doing a comparative analysis of mammal brain and body size data.
I'm following Charlie Nunn and Natalie Cooper's instructions for

I run into the following error when I create my comparative dataset,

Two problems building a package
Hello all:
I have written a few R scripts and am trying to turn them into a package for
submission to CRAN. All of these scripts are R code only, no C or C++ or
anything else. I'm working with R 2.0.1 running on a Windows XP machine. So
far running ">rcmd install --build --docs=normal mypkge" seems to work
(i.e., the library "mypkge" is installed in R\rw2001\library and
