Kernel Fisher Discriminant in R?
Dear members, I am wondering if there are any functions to perform the Kernel Fisher Discriminant method, especially for multi-class problems, in R. I would appreciate any kind of information on this. Thanks for your time. Seungho Huh, Ph.D. Research Statistician RTI International North Carolina, USA [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

UNSOLITED E_MAILS: Integrate R data-analysis projects with Microsoft Office for free
Dear R Admins, I received an unsolicited e-mail from BlueInference as an R user. Does it mean that R that our e-mails (and names) is sharing it's user database with third parties without our consent? Or perhaps the BlueInference guys are using an e-mail address miner to get our contact details? [SNIP] Dear Gorden Jemwa, As a fellow R user, I am sure you agree with me that R is a

how to obtain predicted labels for test data using "kerne lpls"
You need to do some extra work if you want to do classification with a regression method. One simple way to do classification with PLS is to code the classes as 0s and 1s (assuming there are only two classes) or -1s and 1s, fit the model, then threshold the prediction; e.g., those with predicted values < 0.5 (in the 0/1 coding) get labeled as 0s. There's a predict() method for mvr

how to obtain predicted labels for test data using "kernelpls"
Dear members, My name is Seungho Huh. I am a statistician who tries to use the Kernel PLS method in a classification problem. I am sending this email to ask you something about the "kernelpls" function in R (pls.pcr package). I would like to obtain the predicted Y values for test data, using the Kernel PLS method. Let's take the example in the R help: > data(NIR) >

Adaptec 39320A woes
I'm having speed problems with the SCSI card we're using to do tape backup. It seems to be functioning in 16 bit mode and the current thinking is that perhaps it's using a legacy driver instead of the correct one. The Adaptec site has a 'driver' for RHEL5 which I've downloaded and tried to install but it seems to have a problem installing on a CentOS-5 system. [root at

Help writing a Scheffe Contrast function for R
Hello, As a new user of R (less than a month) I have got my hands on several books and am pouting through the net looking for help in gaining understanding of this powerful tool. I am becoming more proficient with using basic functions to conduct basic statistics. I am now looking to learn how to write code. After a few small worthless functions I decided to try to create a function that was

question about the dataset fgl
Dear sir or ma'am, I have a question about the dataset "fgl." The dataset seems to be in the "VR" package, so I tried to download it from CRAN. However, after downloading, when I tried to load the package, it was not in my package list. I am wondering what is wrong. Any advice on how to access the fgl dataset would be appreciated. Thanks. Fisher's discriminant functions
Hi everyone, I'm trying to solve a problem about how to get the Fisher's discriminant functions of a "lda" (linear discriminant analysis) object, I mean, the object obtained from doing "lda(formula, data)" function of the package MASS in R-project. This object gives me the canonical linear functions (n-1 coefficients matrix of n groups at least), and only with this

Fisher's discriminant functions
Hi, I am trying to solve a discriminant analysis in the same way as SPSS does it. I mean, given an amount of data, to train the discriminant analysis I obtain the Fisher's discriminant functions, an array of coefficients per group, so if I have 8 groups I get 8 linear functions, that allow me to operate with them easily and without a great cost of time. My main problem is that I need to

LASSO coefficients for a specific s
Hello, I have a question about the lars package. I am using this package to get the coefficients at a specific LASSO parameter s. data(diabetes) attach(diabetes) object <- lars(x,y,type="lasso") cvres<-cv.lars(x,y,K=10,fraction = seq(from = 0, to = 1, length = 100)) fits <- predict.lars(object, type="coefficients", s=0.1, mode="fraction") Can I assign

Specifying Ajax hyperlinks
I was about to put this as a feature request but I wasn''t sure if anyone would consider it useful so I thought I''d ask here. I''m not sure what the feeling on specifying links is - it strikes me as something that needs doing because it''s generated code at the end of the day. I''ve got a few lines now along the lines of:

Fisher's method in discriminant analysis
Hi, I'm using mda library to solve a discriminant analysis. I get results, but the thing is that I want to use Fisher's method to obtain the classification functions and I'm lost in what I should do: libraries to use, ... Can anybody give me a clue?? Thanks. Carlos Niharra L??pez

several problems with Powercom BNT-500AP
Hello. It's been a while since I started this topic. I've finally tested it on Linux desktop PC. Nut version 2.6.4-2.3 Basically the behavior is the same as on raspberry pi. It reports "battery needs to be replaced" regularly and I got "on battery" message 114107.780504 Path: UPS.PowerSummary.PresentStatus.ACPresent, Type: Input, ReportID: 0x0a, Offset: 2, Size: 1,
