FW: Maps and plotting
Thanks for the help on the translucent dots. What would be the best
method for creating a map of the facility? I looked into map* in the
libraries and didn't find anything on creating the maps, just using
them.
Thanks again...

How to use alpha transparency channel for colors?
The release notes for R 2.0.0 states:
It is now possible to specify colours with a full alpha
transparency channel via the new 'alpha' argument to the
rgb() and hsv() functions, or as a string of the form "#RRGGBBAA".
NOTE: most devices draw nothing if a colour is not opaque,
but PDF and Quartz devices will render semitransparent colours.
A new argument

getting started with facebooker
Hi,
I started with rfacebook but given the recent events figure its best
to move over to facebooker.
I have:
1.) Installed the facebooker plugin
2.) setup my facebook app (fbml/canvas)
3.) created a method on controller & view to handle initial request
4.) added "ensure_application_is_installed_by_facebook_user" to top
off application.rb
I am able to get to my landing page

simple routing & linking question
So I have an existing app & facebook app in same rails application,
for now I have decided to go the route of creating a controller for
facebook stuff (called FaceController).
(setup is canvas, fbml)
So I have:
facebook config
http://myurl:myport/face/
My controllers name is face, so I dont even need a manual route, for
the landing page it works like a charm.
but, when I try to make

facebook_url_rewriting.rb
Here''s the fix for Facebook apps that specify a controller in their callback URLs. First, set this variable in your environment scripts:
ENV[''FACEBOOKER_CALLBACK_PATH''] = ''/controller''
# where controller is the name of your Facebook controller
And then patch vendor/plugins/facebooker/lib/facebooker/rails/facebook_url_rewriting.rb as shown in the

i.e. I would like to be able to specify a theta and a phi parameters like in

Getting rid of borders on semi-transparent plotting symbols
R version 2.7.0 RC (2008-04-20 r45403)
When using semi-transparent filled plotting symbols, the border of the
symbol has a different (darker) colour than the interior:
plot(0, 0, pch=19, col="#FF000022")
(Saving this as a PDF and looking at it magnified may make it easier to
see.)
This is pretty annoying, since when plotting partially overlapping
points, the border colour dominates,

Good image API for RoR?
Hi, I need a relatively simple image api for the app I''m writing. I
need to copy photos, rename them, and re-size them to put them in a
standard format.
I tried using RMagick/Imagemagick, but the photos would be corrupted on
re-size, so I''m looking for some suggestions.

transparent colors
Dear R graphics experts,
Do you know of any way of plotting semi-transparent points in R ?
I face this problem any time I want to e.g. plot thousands of points
that belong to two or three classes which I color code.
With the default opaque colors, the plotting order matters and
basically the points I plot last completely dominate the picture. I
would much rather have the overlaying points

I don't understand this
For reasons which I'll spare you, I'm writing a program to analyse
R source code. This has led me to probe some of the darker corners
of R syntax to find out what is supposed to happen.
Now, from reading the R documentation (and the New S book &c) I know
perfectly well that
f(a, b, etc) <- x
is supposed to turn into
a <- "f<-"(a, b, etc, value=x)
Except,

plotting segments only and in color
Hello,
I've a question concerning the display of interval data.
A sample dataset where X is an interval between Xa and Xb
which should be displayed:
Y=c(15,14,23,18,19,9,19,13)
Xa=c(17,22,21,18,19,25,8,19)
Xb=c(22,22,29,34,19,26,17,22)
X = (Xa+Xb)/2
It's easily possible to plot the mean of the interval like:
plot(X,Y)
afterwards I can create lines for the interval with:

More on routing, relative_root and facebooker
Hey there!
I would like the discussion to continue on how facebooker handles
routes, as it appears that there is an unsolved issue.
Mike, I read your recent reply involving setting facebook''s
callback_path to the root of the rails app, and adding a route to
catch all calls to the app root where canvas => true.
I just want to point out this is counterintuitive to some folks and

[LLVMdev] A Question about LLVM-backend
Hello, all.
I want to manipulate LLVM-backend to emit other compiler's IR, in this
case, VPO's IR.
So, what i want to know is.. Is there a project to be referred? (For
example, "Do LLVM-backend -> GIMPLE" project exist?)
Or, how can I manipulate it easily?
Thanks,

col2rgb, factors & documentation
Hello Core Folk.
Quite by accident I discovered today that col2rgb, when fed factors, acts on the integer representation of those factors:
td <- as.factor(rainbow(5)) # not how I discovered the issue!
td
res <- col2rgb(td)
res
# but
col2rgb("#FF0000FF") # this is td[1] but does not produce the same answer
res[,1]
# moreover
as.integer(td)
col2rgb(5) # the integer value of the
