fidelity of generated raster images (R and perl)
Hi:
Goal: use R to turn a matrix of 1's and 0's
into a corresponding image (e.g. png)
of black and white pixels.
Why R: Yes, I can do this more efficiently and precisely
with a perl module like Image::PBM. Been there,
done that many times, etc. (Just humor me.
I'm trying to do this with R for a number of reasons.)

Sweave Print xtable
Hi, I'm working with Sweave and I have some trouble generating table. The R
code is:
print(xtable(myTable, caption ="", label="tab:myTab",
digits=3), tabular.environment='tabular', floating=TRUE,
caption.placement="top",size="\\scriptsize")
and the resulting LaTeX table is:

add leading 0s to %d from png() {was Automatic creation of file names}
Dear useRs,
Is there a way to 'properly' format %d when plotting more than one
page on png()? 'Properly' means to me with leading 0s, so that the
PNGs become easy to navigate in a file/image browser. Lacking a better
solution I ended up using the code below, but would much prefer
something like
png("test_%d.png",bg="white",width=1000,height=700)
where %d

Incorrect positioning of raster images on Windows
I am working on dumping raster data from R into PNG files using

Gracias.

"Too many raster images" in devPS.c
Hi,
I am finding the recently added [1] functionality of embedding raster
images into plots on R devices very useful! Thanks to Paul Murrell and
others for providing that. I noted that in
https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/src/library/grDevices/src/devPS.c
a macro is defined: #define MAX_RASTERS 64, and consequently, I get

Latex problem in Hmisc (3.8-1) and Mac Os X with R 2.11.1
Dear all,
I did post this more or less identical mail in a follow up to another
question I posted, but under another heading. I try again, but now
under the correct header.
upon running this code (from the Hmisc library-latex function) I
believe the call to summary.formula is allright and produces wonderful
tables, but the latex command results in a correct formatted table but

Raster images and saving with original pixel dimensions in tiff, jpeg, or png perferablly.
Hello R-Help,
I want to be able to read in a raster image, plot it with grid.raster
or rasterImage and save the image with one pixel per a pixel element
from my array. Saved preferably in a common image format.
The real goal of my question is to eventually read in images with text
on them, manipulate them with my controlled functions, save them
without changing the image dimensions, and perform

Splitting printed output in Sweave
Dear R community,
I'm trying to figure out if there is any way to split the printed output
of some commands, for example summary.lme, so that I can intersperse
comments in Sweave. I don't mind running the command numerous times and
masking various portions of the output, or saving the output as an object
and printing it, but I can't figure out how to do either. Does anyone
have any

Sweave and long strings
Dear R-List,
I use Sweave (which is wonderful) and I have a problem with the
strings when they are too long according to the width of the page. For
example when I do in my .Rnw document :
<<UsingRODBC,echo=TRUE>>=
channel <- odbcConnect(dsn="database",uid="root",pwd="password")
df1 <- sqlFetch(channel,"table1",rownames=TRUE)

nearest neighbour interpolation
Dear Help List,
My name is Matt Oliver. I have been using R for about a year and find it very
helpful. However, I have a need for a function that I cannot find. I am not very
good at programming so I thought I would ask the group.
I have an irregular grid of data (x = Longitude, y = Latitude). Each pair of my x,y
has a categorical value. Obviously linear or any other numerically based
