hi there, anybody knows how to import data into R from splus directly? I have a huge amount of data in splus format, which will cost forever for me to transform the data back to ascii or something else and then read them into R. thanks a lot. ximing -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read

File Extension .OGG
Hi, I've already sent this to feedback@vorbis.com, but I got no response and this might be more correctly placed here anyway, so here is a revised vesrion. I have one thing to criticize, which is the file extension *.OGG. It's ambigous (the Netrek meaning) and using it for both video and audio seems confusing. Plus, there are a lot of OGG files floating around that are generated by

RE: Build break -cc1: error: unrecognized option`-Wdeclaration-after-statement''
''-Wdeclaration-after-statement'' isn''t supported by gcc 3.3 which is what I am currently using. It was introduced into Config.mk in changeset 7973:c7508abc5b6b. I backed out the changes and everything appears to be building okay. > -----Original Message----- > From: xen-devel-bounces@lists.xensource.com > [mailto:xen-devel-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On

S objects
Is it possible for R to "read in" S objects. For example, suppose that when using S I did: > x <- c(1,2,3) > y <- x^2 > q() These objects are now in the .Data directory. If I then want to use x and y in an R session, how can I do so? Thanks, Rob -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-help mailing list -- Read

nlminb(Splus) vs optim(R)
Dear, R experts. I have two program codes, one is made by Splus and the other is made by transferring from Splus code. Because "nlminb" function in Splus is equivalent to "optim" in R, I expected to get exactly same result. But, sometime there is too large differece (greater than 2%) between two outputs. I looked two help files. According to those, in Splus, quasi-Newton
