Trouble with parentheses in Markdown hyperlinks
How can we improve URL detection in Markdown? I posted a question on Stack
Overflow and happened to click a URL in my post. To my surprise, it wasn't
functional, and it took three different, nonintuitive manipulations before
I achieved a functional URL. Stack Overflow says "not my problem", so I'm
deferring to Markdown itself.

[RFC] Documentation clarification: Phabricator, not the lists is the main entry point for new patches
The current documentation talks about both the Phabricator review, and review
as mail replies on -commits lists. It also talks about submitting
patches to lists,
with the subtext that it may be friendlier for outsiders.
It is true that Phabricator has some entry threshold, larger than
github, or maillists,
so the attempt is not unwarranted. But from what i can tell, 99.9% patches go

Readline on R-1.9.1a
Hello! I'm trying to install R-1.9.1a with readline on Suse Linux. As
recommended in other posts, I've installed readline and readline-devel:
kevin@redtail:~/R-1.9.1> rpm -qa | grep readline
readline-devel-32bit-9.0-0
readline-32bit-9.0-0
readline-4.3-207
readline-devel-4.3-207
Then I run configure with readline:
./configure --with-readline

tzinfo_timezone/tzinfo can't modify frozen object
Hi.
I get the following error off and on in my app. I''m running latest
EdgeRails in development mode, and use the tzinfo_timezone plugin and
the tzinfo 0.3.3 gem.
I''ve checked line 210 in tzinfo_timezone.rb but cannot relate that to
an object modification in tzinfo. Any tips much appreciated.

ACL confusion
I'm seeing an oddity regarding ACLs.
I have a user who wants others to be able to add stuff to her folder,
but she wants to make sure that she has access by default to files
added to her folder. The easiest way to do this, I thought, is to set
the user's ACL to apply to this folder, subfolder, and files.
(Right-click on the folder, choose Properties, click on Security,
click Advanced,

I believe the history is that when Phab was initially introduced, we wrote the documentation this way to make things easy for reviewers who didn't want to change their workflow. But, I agree with your observations. The majority of code review seems to happen on Phabricator, and the best way to get traction on a new patch is to upload it to

Proposal for Mach-O support in llvm-objcopy: section renaming
Hi,
I'm going to implement Mach-O support in llvm-objcopy. Before working
on this, I'd like to hear your thoughts how llvm-objcopy should handle
Mach-O section names.
By convention, Mach-O section names are denoted by "<segment
name>,<section name>". However, GNU objcopy renames them in the
following rule [1]:
- If the section name is well-known, rename it to an

Running R remotely in Windows Environment?
We are considering setting up a fast, RAM loaded machine as an "R-server"
to handle the big problems not suitable for individual desktops and, also,
to process ad hoc analysis requests via our portal. We are 99% a Windows
shop, so first choice is a windows server. We'll use (D)COM for the portal
interface and understand that.
What has me stumped is how to easily interface

[Marketing Mail] Re: [External] Re: [Marketing Mail] Create CentOS 6 system as "clone" of another - with LVM and different disk sizes
Hi,
I could be wrong, but afaik clonezilla makes bit-accurate copies of the file
system like dd does. Therefore, no configurations should be adapted. Usually
Linux doesn't care where it runs, as long as the underlying 'hardware' (or
virtual hardware) architecture matches.
However, there are a number of configuration files that need to be modified for
such clones, including network
