biometrics in samba 4
Hello Lads,
I am not a programmer in any shape or form, so bare with me.
Windows AD can support biometric devices, such as fingerprint logins, it
actually stores the fingerprint in the database.
Will it be possible to store this information in a Samba4 AD enviroment?
Cheers,
Adrian Sender.

Biometrics fingerprint scanner in RoR? Is it possible? and how?
I''m a graduating student of IT right now and in a couple of months, we''ll
be starting on a new project in the University. My group and I decided to
create a voting system which requires Fingerprint scanner to identify the
voters and make the voting process more secured. I still don''t know how
biometrics fingerprint scanner works exactly and I''ve just started

the puzzle of eigenvector and eigenvalue
Dear all
I am so glad the R can provide the efficient calculate about
eigenvector and eigenvalue.
However, i have some puzzle about the procedure of eigen.
Fristly, what kind of procedue does the R utilize such that the eigen
are obtained?
For example, A=matrix(c(1,2,4,3),2,2)
we can define the eigenvalue lamda, such as
det | 1-lamda 4 | =0
| 2 3-lamda |

no true incrementals with rsync?
for example's sake:
With traditional backup systems, you keep a base (full backup, let's say
every 30 days), then build incrementals on top of that, eg. (what has
changed since the base).
So, to restore, you copy over your base, then copy each incremental over the
base to rebuild up to the latest snapshot. (*copying new incrementals files
over older base files*)
With rsync, (using

biometric device or smartcard with Samba 4.x
Hi all,
I was just wondering if any of you are using biometric devices (eg: a
fingerprint reader) or smartcards with Samba4 for network logon.
Either as a replacement for a password or 'extra' as a 2nd factor.
Would be interested in hearing experiences regarding this.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bram.

samba problem on Mandrake 9.0
Happy New Year to everyone:
I have followed the instructions at shorewall.net/samba.htm. I''ve
restarted the samba server, shorewall, rebooted, everything. And from my
network I cannot browse available shares on the firewall (192.168.1.1)
telnet 192.168.1.1 138 fails with connection refused, which I don''t
understand. All other open ports respond with a string.

density(x)
Dear experts,
when trying to estimate an kernel density function with density(x) I get the following
error message with imported data from either EXCEL or text files:
Error in density(spr) : argument must be numeric.
Other procedues such as truehist work. If I generate data within R density works fine.
Does anybody have an idea?
Yours

fitting lots of music into 10GB with Vorbis
Hi- just wondering, what would be the best quality rating to use to fit lots of music into 10GB of HD space.
The audio quality has to be high enough for it to sound good when played through PA systems (for when my college is stupid enough to forget to hire a DJ, or when the realise the DJ they always hire can't use a mixing desk properly) ranging from a functional PA system thats stuck in the

Hi everyone,
I've had no success compiling recent version of R for the Alpha. I know
there is a binary distribution, but I don't have root access to my
machine. The compiler options mentioned in one of the older
distributions dont seem to work anymore. Can anyone provide any
guidance.

once more password problem
O.k. then, this one really is strange to me:
I have samba 2.0.0beta3 compiled and installed and started (running now)
on our linux 2.0.35-file server.
Testparm simply says everything is fine. Since I'm having some trouble
anyway, I stepped through DIAGNOSIS.txt.
Tests 1 through 6 work just fine.
I also get all shares on each Win95-client using each valid user name -
