Given the manpage links, and the fact that our system awk is really built from gawk sources, I'd expect to have a link from /usr/bin/gawk to /usr/bin/awk (or vice versa). I mentioned this a few months back on this list and people seemed to think it wouldn't be a problem to get it into the mainline tree.
