last.warning and function problem
Hello,
I am a newbie in R and I am trying to create a function, that includes
several functions inside.
To avoid that everything stops if there is an error, I have this statement
bla = function(....){
...
if(exists("last.warning")){rm(last.warning)}
...
}
inside the function, which if I use it normally, it works fine, but once I
use it with the funciotn it gives me an error like:

microsoft proxy & R project
hi,
as I'm using R at Dell (where I am working), I manage to install packages
from web, but there is a web proxy, which is pretty boring.
R asks me to enter an active directory login/password, that would
normally auth me through the web proxy, but it doesn't work.
I'm looking forward for your help. Sorry if I used bad english.
Any ideas ?

covariates in lm
Dear R list,
I have been trying to do a linear model, extracting the effect of a
covariate.... and the results do not match, when I do it with other programs
(e.g. minitab).... so it is obvious that I was doing something wrong.
Whan I do it with minitab, I have this results: (sector is a factor and depth
is the covariate):

Number of digits of a value for problem 7.31 RFAQ
Hello dear R users!
I did not find a function which gives information about the number of
digits of a value shown by R.
Do you know one?
I need it to solve the problem (see RFAQ 7.31)that 0.2==0.2+0.1-0.1 FALSE
The solution suggested in RFAQ is to use isTRUE(all.equal(0.2,0.2+0.1-0.1))
But if I want to compare inequality:
0.2<=0.2 +0.1-0.1 TRUE
but 0.2<=0.2 +0.1-0.1 FALSE
bad!

Dear list members,
I would like to set up a multiple panel in xyplots, with the same scale
for all colunms in each row, but different accross rows.
relation="free" would set up all x or y scales free... which is not what

Is this possible?
Thank you in advance,
Best wishes,

Hi All,
Another newbie question. I want to write an R script that takes
argument from command line and runs and produces output to stdin.

args = commandArgs()
print(args)
then, when I run it like
$ R foo.R hello
it should print 'hello' on the terminal.
I searched the mainling list and found a very old post that said said

R won't connect to the internet
Hi
I can't get R to connect to the internet. I am running R 1.7.1 on Windows XP and whenever I try to download packages etc from within R using the internet, it fails.
OK so I am behind a firewall and use a proxy server....
SO, if I go to my MS-DOS prompt and type:
RGui.exe --internet2
everything works....
BUT i can't set up a shortcut for this as Windows (I hate Windows) complains

Session logging in Windows98?
I'd like to log all console I/O for an entire session while maintaining
normal console I/O. I'm working in Windows98, RGui, R1.1.1. The sink()
function is not the answer since it diverts output from the console. In the
RFAQ I see references to "...save the contents of the interaction buffer to
a file..." and in the R-Help Archive "...just save the console output...".

Dovecot 2.0.3
I upgraded today to from 1.2.12 to Dovecot 2.0.3 with the dbox format. I
just figured out there are still mail in some users directories with the
maildir format. These mail are not displayed at all. Nether with
roundcube nor with Thunderbird. How could I convert the remaining
maildir mails to dbox?
Thanks
Matthias

tdbsam database. They add the user fine to the /etc/passwd file but
samba does not get updated

adding option in the Windows installer for --internet2
[Not sure if such wishlist item should go to R-help or R-devel...]
It would be nice if an option can be added to the R for Windows installer
that will add the --internet2 option to the command line in the shortcut
that gets created. Also, is it possible to make that an option that can be
set at the R prompt, or perhaps even better, as the default no matter
how/where R is started? For those of
