Multilevel in R
Hello,
I have difficulties to deal with multilevel model. My dataset is composed
of 10910 observations, 1237 plants nested within 17 stations. The data set is not
balanced. Response variable is binary and repeated.
I tried to fit this model
model<- glmmPQL( y ~ z1.lon*lun + z2.lat*lun + z1.lon*lar + z2.lat*lar + z1.lon*sca + z2.lat*sca +z1.lon*eta + z2.lat*eta,
random = ~ lun + lar + sca

Multilevel Modeling using glmmPQL
Hi,
I'm trying to perform a power simulation for a simple multilevel
model, using the function glmmPQL in R version 2.8.1. I want to extract
the p-value for the fixed-effects portion of the regression, but I'm
having trouble doing that. I can extract the coefficients
(summary(fit)$coeff), and the covariance matrix (summary(fit)$varFix),
but I can't grab the p-value (or the

the glmmPQL and lmer both use the PQL method to do it ,so can we get the same result by

Multilevel logistic regression using lmer vs glmmPQL vs. gllamm in Stata
Dear all,
I am trying to replicate some multilevel models with binary outcomes
using R's "lmer" and "glmmPQL" and Stata's gllmm, respectively.
The data can be found at <http://www.uni-koeln.de/~ahf34/xerop.dta>.
The relevant Stata output can be found at <http://www.uni-
koeln.de/~ahf34/stataoutput.txt>. First, you will find the

Multilevel model with dichotomous dependent variable
Greetings-
I'm working with data that are multilevel in nature and have a dichotomous
outcome variable (presence or absence of an attribute). As far as I can
tell from reading archives of the R and S lists, as well as Pinheiro and
Bates and Venables and Ripley,
- nlme does not have the facility to do what amounts to a mixed-effects
logistic regression.
- The canonical alternative is

Sum by categorical variable
Dear R-list,
I have two variables (numerical and categorical) and would like to have the
sum (and maybe some other statistics) of the numerical variable by the
categorical one.
Can you help me,
Thank you,

NLME - multilevel model using binary outcome - logistic regression
Hi!
I'm pretty raw when working with the R models (linear or not).
I'm wondering has anybody worked with the NLME library and dichotomous
outcomes.
I have a binary outcome variable that I woul like to model in a nested
(multilevel) model.
I started to fit a logistic model to a NLS function, but could not suceed. I
know there are better ways to do it in R with either the LRM or GLM wih

easy question
Dear R.List,
I am starting to use R. I have an easy question. In a dataset of 15
variables, I am not able run correctly the index i of the do loop.
Do you have any suggestion?
NC <- function(x)
for (i in 1:15) {
print(dim(table(dt[,"Vi"])))
}
Thank you in advance,
Fabrizio

Your opinion about RHCSA certification
Hello to all,
I'm currently studying (and collecting notes here
https://github.com/fdicarlo/RHCSA_cs) for RHCSA. My plan is to RHCSA
-> RHCE and then RHCSS.
What I want to ask you is:
- What do you think about it?
- Did you find it useful?
- Do you have any advices?
Best regards,
Fabrizio

Migration from 32 to 64 bits
Hello to all,
currently I have CentOS 6.4 32 bit, very simple setup on my notebook,
I want to migrate it from 32 to 64 bits cause I want to play with some
VMs etc etc.
Do you have some suggestions on how to do backup of folders (mainly I
have 1 user) or just copy the user folder and stop?

levels
Hello,
Thanks to all for the previus answer. I want to be more detailed:
I have a dataset called gm20011231 with 1304 observations (or records).
I want to create a subset with the followin command
j2<-gm20011231[1:10,"V4"]
the levels of "V4" is 1304 and the and the length(j2) is 10.
Do you know how to obtain a j2 with level 10?
Thank you

Problem at boot
Hello to all,
I have a question, maybe it's a very newbie question. I've installed CentOS
6.4 on my notebook but sometimes when I boot it, after the screen "booting
CentOS in 4..3..2..1" I receive a black screen and not the logo of CentOS
with loading progress. Is it normal? There are some know issue about it?
Best regards,

Authenticate Samba with an LDAP w/o the schema
Hi all,
I'd like to authenticate my fresh Samba installation against an LDAP server
without the Samba schema. Obviously I cannot touch it.
So I'd like to use LDAP just for the authentication without getting
the UID and the other parameters from it.
I can use the same UID, home folder and so on for all the users, the only
important thing is to provide access only to the LDAP users.

Problem with nlme or glmmPQL (MASS)
Hola!
I am encountering the following problem, in a multilevel analysis,
using glmmPQL from MASS. This occurs with bothj rw1062 and r-devel,
respectively with nlme versions 3.1-38 and 3.1-39 (windows XP).

glmmpql and lmer keep failing
Hello,
I'm running a simulation study of a multilevel model with binary
response using the binomial probit link. It is a random intercept and
random slope model. GLMMPQL and lmer fail to converge on a
*significant* portion of the *generated* datasets, while MlWin gives
reasonable estimates on those datasets. This is unacceptable. Does
anyone has similar experiences?
