Using 'contour' to compare concentration profiles on the same plot
Hello, Using the data and code below I've been using R to compare output from two different solute transport codes, the red contours are from verified code while the blue contours come from some modified code I've been working on. The goal is for the contours to match, and although there is currently a slight discrepancy this would be expected. The plot shows a pulse of infiltrating

contour(): Thickness contour labels
Hi, I want to display some contour labels. It works well, but the thickness of the label is to low. I tried the "labcex" command contour(x,y,z, labcex=2) But only the size is rising and not the thickness of labels. Only if i set the value to "labcex=10" the thickness is good, but the size is to big, so i can't see anything ;) Is there any command to rise the thickness

overlaid filled contour plots
I'm trying to make a set of contour plots of bivariate kernel density estimates, showing three such plots overlaid, similar to this plot http://euclid.psych.yorku.ca/SCS/Private/Test/ridge-boot2.pdf except that I would like to have the contours *filled* (using transparent colors). To make this reproducible, I've saved the results of KernSmooth::bkde2D() in the following file:

lwd patches for "contour"
I found it useful to have contour be able to do line widths ... hope that the guts haven't changed an enormous amount in the current development version ... the patches are relatively trivial, mostly going by analogy with lty and col (although in my ignorance it took me a while to figure out what UNPROTECT(2) was and why it should be changed to UNPROTECT(3) ... hope this is useful. This was reported to me by a colleague in China, so I may not be reproducing exactly what they are seeing (which I suspect is rw2011), but this is what I see: > version _ platform i386--netbsdelf arch i386 os netbsdelf system i386, netbsdelf status major 2 minor 1.1 year 2005 month 06 day 20 language R > help(Hershey) : : If the 'vfont' argument

contour() labels (PR#441)

How to get special (Hershey) font symbols into plot axis labels?
Dear R experts- I'm running R 1.2.3 (2001-04-26) on Linux. I need to get special symbols, such as a circle with a dot in it as used to indicate Solar units in astronomy, into my plot axis labels. How can I do this? Using the R documentation on the Hershey font sets, one can plot a Solar symbol within the world coordinates of a plot like this: >plot(1:10,1:10)

adding contour lines to a filled.contour
Hi all, Does anybody know how to add contour lines to a filled contour plot? I want to draw a single contour around values that are above a certain level (e.g., significant). The problem I'm having is that since the filled.contour command actually draws two plots (data and the key), adding contour lines paints them over both plots. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy #~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello All, I am drawing four contour plots on a 2x2 layout. I need to downsize the contour line labels. cex and labcex do not seem to work. Any suggestions? filled contour plots
hello everyone, I was wondering if anybody can help me solve 2 problems related to the function filled.contour. I am entering the following R command: filled.contour(xx,yy,P1, nlevels=20,color=cm.colors, plot.axes={ contour(xx,yy,P1,add=T,col="grey", nlevels=20, drawlabels=F) axis(1,1:length(xx),labels=xlabels)

How to use filled.contour(x,y,z) data for levelplot(z)?
Dear all, We used the following function to create a spatial plot of a raster image: filled.contour(xx,yy,zz, color = terrain.colors, nlevels=10, main=naamjaar, plot.axes = { contour(Xcoord/1000,Ycoord/1000,lim.data, nlevels = 4, col=4,drawlabels = T, axes = FALSE, frame.plot = FFALSE, add = TRUE);axis(1); axis(2);

Poor documentation for "adj" and text()
Hello Core Team, I sent this patch over a year ago. It looks like it was sent in response to another user's complaint which echoed some of my own observations about problems in the documentation for 'text'. Did anyone have a chance to look it over? I'd like to get it out of my queue. Thanks, Frederick On Tue, Apr 11, 2017 at 12:01:05PM -0700, frederik at ofb.net wrote: >

Contour plot question
In a contour plot having numeric values displayed next to the contours, is it possible to modify these numeric values so that they are bolded, enlarged, and/or placed differently? Much thanks in advance, David Paul, Ph.D. Battelle Memorial Institute 614.424.3176

X11 and vfonts modules on AIX 5.2
I am trying to get R-2.2.1 to pass make check on an AIX 5.2 at work (I know R-2.2.1 is not the latest release, but I encountered make errors in my attempts to install either R-2.3.0 or the R-patched_2006-05-10 on the version of AIX I am on. I will post those errors in a separate posting from this.) So far, configure and make finish without error for R-2.2.1 using gnu make, gcc-4.1.0, and

R 2.6.2 is released
I've rolled up R-2.6.2.tar.gz a short while ago. This is a maintenance release and fixes a number of mostly minor bugs. See the full list of changes below. You can get it (in a short while) from http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-2/R-2.6.2.tar.gz or wait for it to be mirrored at a CRAN site nearer to you. Binaries for various platforms will appear in due course. For the R Core
