RSPerl & OS X
Hi, I'm wanting to call R from Perl via the RSPerl package. However I cannot seem to install it on my Macbook (OS X Tiger - R 2.6 - Perl 5.8.6). I try to install the source downloaded from the sigmahat website - but it seems to fail - when I search my system for R.pm - I can't find it? Something looks to be going wrong with the make bits? Cheers David M ---- $ R CMD INSTALL

Problem compiling Samba4, Python installed in nonstandard location
Hi,I am working with a custom built (LFS-based) Linux distro and am attempting to compile Samba4. Samba3 has always compiled without issue. The system has its Python installed in /opt/python2. There are symlinks to put "python" in /usr/local/bin and the "python2.7" lib folder in /usr/include. The configure command used was simply ./configure --enable-fhs --with-quotas The

building cobbler on centos
Is it difficult to build cobbler on Centos or should I just go with Fedora on this one? Basically, if you have experience succeeeding at this, can you drop me a link to a Howto or describe the issues? I am only writing this because I tried, and ran into quite a few dependency issues with upstream/downstream packages, and would rather concentrate on just getting a nice working Cobbler (and

Converting non-32-bit integers from python to R to use bit64: reticulate
Dear R Developers, There is an interesting issue related to "reticulate" R package which discusses how to convert Python's non-32 bit integers to R, which has had quite an exhaustive discussion: https://github.com/rstudio/reticulate/issues/323 Python seems to handle integers differently from R, and is dependant on the system arquitecture: On 32 bit systems uses 32-bit integers,

Re: [Omega-help] RSPython_0.3.0 on FreeBSD 4.*:
Thanks for your help Duncan. Your last comment helped me to figure out what FreeBSD was doing differently than Linux/Solaris. This fix worked on a machine with Python 2.1, R 1.3.1 and FreeBSD 4.1. Here are the details: The pthreads fix: I added '-lc_r' to the PKG_LIBS definition in src/Makevars.in. The FreeBSD 'man pthread' page suggests that adding -pthread to the gcc statement

Converting non-32-bit integers from python to R to use bit64: reticulate
Thank you Gabriel for valuable insights on the 64-bit integers topic. In addition, my statement was wrong, as Python3 seems to have unlimited (and variable) size integers. Here is related CPython Code: https://github.com/python/cpython/blob/master/Objects/longobject.c Division between Int-32 and Int-64 seems to only happen in Python2.
