lattice plot - portrait / landscape
Hi,
How can I use portrait/landscape option in lattice
bwplot? Is there any option in trellis.device where I
can define this?
Thanks in advance,
Mahbub.

lattice question
Hi,
I want to use (similar to) las options in lattice
(bwplot) plot. Actually I want to have x-axis labels
as vertical instead of default horizontal.
Thanks in advance for your help.

how to use different ylim scales on a lattice bwplot?
A colleague is interested in modifying the ylim definition for individual
panels of a common bwplot plotting statement.
Is there an approach to modifying the bwplot function to allow for a
dynamic ylim range given different panel factors ?
He is using R 2.6.2 on a Linux distribution running from a CD.
Thanks for the assistance.

gnls : Rho
Hello list:
How to extract the value of "Rho" from a gnls() object. I am using gnls()
function similar to
res <- gnls(y~SSmicmen(),correlation=corCompSymm(form~1|b),data=dat)
Thanks in advance,
Mahbub.

max/summary
Hi,
What is the reason for getting two different max of a
vector from two functions max() and summary()? Here is
an example,
> set.seed(2222)
> x <- sample(x=1:100000, size=10000, replace=T)
> max(x)
[1] 99992
> summary(x)

anova(lme object)
Hi,
I use lme to fit models like
R> res1 <- lme(y~A+B, data=mydata, random=~1|subject)
R> res2 <- lme(y~B+A, data=mydata, random=~1|subject)
(only difference between these two models are the
sequence in which the indep variables are written in
formula)
where y is continuous and A, B, and subject are
factors. To get ANOVA table I used
R> anova(res1)
R> anova(res2)

Adding text labels to lattice plots with multiple panels
Hi,
I am trying to add text to the bottom of a lattice bwplot with
multiple panels. I would like to add a label below each boxplot, but
the labels do not come from the data. I've tried the following, code:
f1 <- c(rep(c(rep("a", 3), rep("b", 3), rep("c", 3)), 2))
f2 <- c(rep("A", 9), rep("B", 9))
dv <- c(0.9, 0.8, 0.85, 0.6, 0.65,

Lattice bwplot(): Changing Orientation of Plots in Multipanel Display
I've looked again at Deepayan Sakar's 'Lattice' book and not seeing the
information I know must be in there. A clue stick would be much appreciated.
A pair of box-and-whisker plots for two conditions of the same data set
display each box plot horizontally (see attached pH figure). Relations of
the two are not as easily seen as they would be if the two panels had the

lattice question: independent per-row or per-column scaling?
Hello - and happy newyear to all of you!
I've got some data that I'm plotting with bwplot, a 3x2x3 design where
the observable decreases with the principle independent factor, but at
different rates.
I'd like to get lattice to impose not a single set of axes ranges
identical for all panels, but ranges that are identical for each panel
row or each column. Effects will stand out much

lattice 'scales' option help

I'm trying to draw boxplots. I'm having a hard time to get "ticks labels" on
multiple panels using 'alternating' option.

dta <- subset(OrchardSprays, OrchardSprays$rowpos %in% c(1,2,3))

bwplot [lattice]: how to get different y-axis scales for each row?
Dear expeRts,
How can I get ...
(1) different y-axis scales for each row
(2) while having the same y-axis scales for different columns?
I coulnd't manage to do this with relation="free" [which gives (1) but not (2)].
I also tried relation="sliced", but it did not give the same y-axis scales
within each row (see the fourth row). Further, it "separates" the

Re-ordering the order of lattice graphics panels
Dear all
I have made some lattice graphs (bwplot(dead ~ treat | group,...).
'group' is a factor with three levels (Artemia larvae, Abalone larvae
and Abalone spat), and the result is a graph with three panels
corresponding to the levels in 'group', ordered in alphabetical order
from bottom to top, as expected.
How does one re-order the order in which the levels of

annotating an axis in bwplot (lattice)
Hi,
I'd like to add, say, the sample size for every group in a bwplot as a
parenthetical annotation to the axis. Here's a sketch:

require(Hmisc)
age <- sample(1:100, 1000, replace = TRUE)
sex <- gl(2, 8, 1000, c("Male", "Female"))
grp <- gl(4, 6, 1000, letters[1:4])
