A polar.plot BUG in plotrix 1.3.3 ?
Hi,
I just updated to R-2.1.1 and updated packages acordingly
However, after the update, routines that use polar.plot
did not function as correctly.
In plotrix 1.3.3 the polar.plot function does scale label.pos
to radians prior to calling radial.plot
Hence, the command
polar.plot(c(5,10,5,0),c(-10,0,10,20),rp.type='P',

stars graphs
Hi listers,
A few days ago I posted a question about the use of the stars function
on selected lines of a frame. Thanks to two helpers, a closer look at
the scale argument allowed to partially solve the problem. Yet I still
have a problem with stars.
Allow me to explain what I intend to do (sorry for my poor English and
the long post):
I want to graph an activity index of a fish during the day

Polar plot, circular plot (angular data)
Dear R-users,
Hereby a polar plot function for plotting angular data. I hope it will be usefull for some of you.
I had a need to plot frequencies of wind-directions. The not-that-cheap SigmaPlot software did not allow me to change the orientation of the angular axis to clockwise orientation (what is used for meteorological observations). I even tried the latest version availible at the time

trouble with plotrix package
Hello list,
I wrote a simple program to plot data on polar axes, taking advantage of
the plotrix package and its function radial.plot. The basic plot works
fine, but I am having difficulties with the formatting. There are three
problems, but I thought I would attack them one at a time. Here is the
first:
If my data set contains values with all vector lengths between 0 and 100

Interpolating variables within (RODBC library) SQL statements for MySQL
Hi everyone,
I am desperately looking for a method to interpolate strings within an SQL
statement as follows:
I get a lot of rows out of a database (in my example POSITION_to_ZIPCODE
Database with holds records for German ZIP Code <--> Gauss-Krueger
Coordinate System ) and want this to be selected and computed individually
row by row as follows:

Colouring a grid segment
Hi,
I am attempting to create a polar chart (using plotrix polar.plt) and I need
to colour a segment of the grid to indicate an area of interest, say from
90-120 degrees, for arguments sake. Is this possible? I can colour the whole
grid by passing the grid.bg parameter through to radial.plot but I cannot
find a way to colour a segment.
thanks,
Darren

Polar plot, circular plot (angular data): II
Dear R-users,
As noted by Paul Murrell < p.murrell at auckland.ac.nz > there is errors in the code for polar plotting I send to R-help under the title "Polar plot, circular plot (angular data)" at Thu Oct 17 2002 - 12:18:20 CEST.
Thanks!
I have reorganized the code into a structure ('pp'). This allows plots to be modified to a greater extent by passing arguments by ...

setting different environments
Hallo,
I have a set of S4 and S3 classes together in one script.
While running this script I create a lot of new functions and objects
An example for S3 and S4 classes:
## S3 classes
pt <- list(x=1,y=2)
class(pt) <- "xypoint"
xpos <- function(x, ...) UseMethod("xpos")
xpos.xypoint <- function(x) x$x
ypos <- function(x, ...) UseMethod("ypos")

No subject
Dear Friends,
Yesterday I posed a question to the list concerning the possibility of doing
animation examples in R. Here is an example S-Plus (4.5 for Windows ) that
I wrote to illustrate my problem. If I try this in R (comment out the
graphsheet and guilocator calls) I don't see my results until after the
function has iterated through the 100 trials. I would like to plot each
iteration.

Nested objects not propagating from view
I thought I had this fixed, but apparently not. It works okay from the
console, but not from the view. I have the following:
# partial schema
create_table "users", :force => true do |t|
t.string "login", :null => false
t.string "first_name"
t.string "last_name"
t.string "email", :null => false

segfault when running heatmap()
Hi, I was wondering if someone in the mailing list has any insight into this
segfault error that I consistently find when running a script containing
heatmap() in R 2.8.1 and 2.8.0 on a Linux 64-bit machine.
Some points:
1. This occurs when running heatmap().
2. Interestingly, if I source() the script or copy and paste the script in
its entirety, this error occurs. However, if I run the

Problem with spacing
I''m having the devil''s time trying to get things laid out correctly.
I''ve attached a screenshot so that you can get an idea of what I''m
seeing. I''ve got a very unattractive space under the two combo boxes,
and another one under the buttons. I don''t understand how to reduce
this.
I know it''s impossible to guess what idiocy I might have

mfrow is ignored by some plots
Hi all,
I was just informed that the plots in the radial.plot family in the
plotrix package do not plot correctly when using mfrow or mfcol to
subdivide the plot window. I found one related message, an answer from
Deepayan Sarkar to a question about lattice graphics, but that shed no
light on this problem.
If I invoke par(mfrow=c(2,2)) and run radial.plot a few times, the plots

Converting nested "for" loops to an "apply" function(s)
Hello,
I would like to know more about how to use the "apply" family and have attempted to convert nested "for" loops in example code from Contributed Documentation ("The Friendly Beginners' R Course? by Toby Marthews (ZIP, 2007-03-01)") to an "apply" function(s). The relevant code is:
