xgobi vs ggobi
Hi Folks,
I'm at the point where I'd normally install xgobi (which I've
used and found very useful), but there is the alternative of
ggobi (now at version 0.9).
Would anyone with experience of both care to indicate the
merits of either relative to the other?
The other thing I can't make out too clearly from the ggobu
website is quite what's involved in choosing between the

SPAM on List...
Re: Per the discussions about spam on this list.
Sending a confirming message to an unregistered poster is not a good
idea. The return/reply-to addresses in spam is forged, and that is just
adding to some victims e-mail.
Filtering runs the risk that a legitimate message gets lost, and the
sender does not realize it.
Filtering is also the most expensive and innefficient way to deal with

Spam to this list
Hi,
I'm not sure what the policy of this list is and I bet everyone has a spam
filter, so nobody might have noticed, but we got spammed.
Can anyone send mail to the list or do you have to subscribe first ?

spam control
Gents,
I have added the following to /etc/mail/sendmail.mc and rebuilt it
trying to control spam. I still get about 25 spam messages a day.
Is there something else that can help control spam?
Thanks
jerry

bug?
Dear R programmers,
is there a sensible explanation for the following behaviour? The second
command seems not to be interpreted correctly.

R-help Time Series
Hi Folks,
While I was browsing in the R-help archives yesterday,
I got curious about the time series of the sizes of
the monthly archives in MB.
This turned out to have an unexpected feature or two,
which I leave to readers to explore for themselves.
I'm now wondering at what point in time we might expect
to be receiving 1000MB/month (30+MB/day). It's not that
far away, it seems, but

Samba PDC w/ LDAP & Mass Adding Users
Hi, I am running into a bit of a strange problem. I have a Perl script
that creates usernames for mass-adding users. This script used to use the
standard Linux 'adduser' command to add users to the system. I am now
switching everything over to LDAP, including Samba.
I have modified the custom Perl script to add users in bulk for
smbldap-tools.

Can't find symbol from llvm backend
Hi, I am new to llvm.
I create a global variable called "test_llvm_var" in the front end function
pass like this:
new GlobalVariable(*m, tmp->getType(), true,
llvm::GlobalValue::ExternalLinkage, tmp, "test_llvm_var");
where tmp is a function.
Then I tried to access this global variable in the back end
MachineFunctionPass like this:
MCContext&

Trying to control the torrent of spam...
Someone got ahold of my information (actually, I know who they are -
t2net.net - just not how to get back at them) and now I'm getting 4
phone calls a week upwards of 20 spams a day.
I'm trying to put an end to the spam at least and the built-in stuff for
Evolution isn't working as well as it should I did some Googling on
procmail and fetchmail and spamassassin config files and much

Can't find symbol from llvm backend
No, I don't. But I’m sure it is not optimized because I can see this
variable in the final binary file emitted.
Do you mean if I don’t refer to this variable in the front end, then I
can’t see it in the backend? (although it’s in the final binary file)
Thank you!

[info] Spamcop listing
Smtp1.song.fi and smtp2.song.fi, our list servers, seem to have gotten
listed in the bl.spamcop.net RBL. Spamcop listings are temporary and
will time out, and because of occasional major false positives (or
perhaps collateral damage?) like this I don't use it to reject mail.
Anyone who IS using Spamcop to reject mail has missed much of today's
list traffic.

Quick tip please!
I have two CSV files (exported from Excel), say file1 and file2.
The have the same number of rows, and each has several columns,
with names on the first line; and some of the columns in file1
are repeated in file2.
Using the "foreign" package, I can read these in separately
to dataframes say d1 and d2 with

Crash test :)
I'm considering to move my mails from maildir/mbox to mdbox. One of my
doubts is: how can I restore my mails when something terrribly wrong
happens.
I understand that I should use doveadm import "backup_location"
"mailbox" all.
So I try to import with:
doveadm -v import "sdbox:~/Mail/dbox-temp/spamcop/reports/" "#Dbox/spamcop/reports" all
#Dbox

Unoffical Survey - What MTA/Spam filtering do you use?
I like this unofficial survey of hardware but wondering what MTA and
spam filtering everyone is using. I do front end spam filtering for
other servers as well. (junkemailfilter.com)
I'm using Exim 4.61
SpamAssassin 3.11
Some version of DSpam that I'm experimenting with
Most of my spam filtering happens on the Exim level.

postfix and spam, I am impressed
I have had the same email address since 1997 (when microsoft stole
bob.com from me thanks to network solutions...)
In the early days I of course was free with my email and used it everwhere.
Fast forward to 2012, some 15 years later.
woof..the amount of spam sent to me has always just kept getting worse
and worse.
On my centos 5 server I just used sendmail with spamassassin and it
