How to solve differential equations with a delay (time lag)?
Hi, I would like to solve a system of coupled ordinary differential equations, where there is a delay (time lag) term. I would like to use the "lsoda" function "odesolve" package. However, I am not sure how to specify the delay term using the syntax allowed by odesolve. Here is an example of the kind of problem that I am trying to solve: > library(odesolve)

using LSODA in R
R help list subscribers, I am a new user of R. I am attempting to use R to explore a set of equations specifying the dynamics of a three trophic level food chain. I have put together this code for the function that is to be evaluted by LSODA. My equations Rprime, Cprime, and Pprime are meant to describe the actual equation of the derivative. When I run LSODA, I do not get the output that

How to get mode (the most frequent value in distribution)?
Hello! I have a continous distribution and would like to get mode (the most frequent value in distribution). I easily found mean, median and other basic thing but not mode function. Can anyone help? I know there my might be problems with multiple modes, but still I think that there should be a mode function in R. Please send mail to R-help list and me, so I can get response faster. Thank

how to reduce in a grid ?
hi dear R users, I'm a newbie with R and excuse me if my question is stupid ... but i've read lot of documentation and I don't know how to do. I have a dataset like x y var1 var2 2 4 10 50 3 3 20 70 3 2 50 68 4 5 34 42 5 3 10 23 7 8 23 42 7 3 23 34 [...] And I need to produce grids like : y\x ]0-2] ]2-4]

Seeking a more efficient way to find partition maxima
Hi. Suppose I have a vector that I partition into disjoint, contiguous subvectors. For example, let v = c(1,4,2,6,7,5), partition it into three subvectors, v1 = v[1:3], v2 = v[4], v3 = v[5:6]. I want to find the maximum element of each subvector. In this example, max(v1) is 4, max(v2) is 6, max(v3) is 7. If I knew that the successive subvector maxima would never decrease, as in the example,

recoding variables
Hi, I was hoping someone could help me. I am a graduate student new to using R, and I'm trying to figure out how to recode a continuous variable to make it into an ordinal variable with 3 categories. I literally have no idea how to proceed--could anyone possibly advise me? Please copy me on any responses, as I have just subscribed to the R-help email list but don't know whether the

Re: Cannot map guest shares in 'security = SERVER' mode onsamba-3.0.9
I'm running samba-3.0.9-1.3E.3 and the manpage for smb.conf does not mention anything about 'map to guest = Bad Uid'. However I did add the line 'map to guest = Bad Uid' an run 'testparm /etc/samba/smb.conf'. No complaines but 'testparm' removes the entire line 'map to guest = Bad Uid' from the config file. Hmmmm???

Wine just won't work! Baffled.
I just compiled and installed Wine 20010216 snapshot. Compiles fine, installs fine. I set up my configuration to use my Windows install, but when I try to run something, I get messages similar to this: # wine notepad.exe err:module:BUILTIN32_dlopen failed to load .so lib for builtin shell32.dll: /usr/local/lib/librpcrt4.so: undefined symbol: dbch_ole err:module:BUILTIN32_dlopen failed to load

about changing line type and line width in Taylor Diagram
Dear all, I am new to plotting Taylor Diagram using plotrix package within R, hence this post. I have written a script which plots Taylor Diagram with one reference and 7 model values. However the font size, line width and line type are not clear when saving the diagram as a jpeg file. I tried the functions lty, lwd and font but no apparent change. I am attaching the script here. Any help would

Regular expression to define contents between parentheses
Hello dear R-helpers, I haven't been able to figure out of find a solution in the R-help archives about how to delete all the characters contained in groups of parenthesis. I have a vector that looks more or less like this: myvector<-c("something (80 km/h, sd) & more (6 kg/L,sd)", "somethingelse (48 m/s, sd) & moretoo (50g/L , sd)") I want to extract all

Trouble with Wine-20010216
I've been using various versions of Wine for a year or so, and up to 20001026 I've had no problems. However, I just tried building 20010216 and my lucky streak came to an end. Now when I try to run anything, I get the following error messages: err:module:BUILTIN32_dlopen failed to load .so lib for builtin user32.dll: /usr/local/lib/libkernel32.so: undefined symbol:

ShuffleKind SK_ExtractSubvector
Hi, I am a little unsure about the semantics of the ShuffleKind SK_ExtractSubvector. It seems a subvector is to be extracted, starting from a given index of a given subtype. First of all, if index 0 is passed, I suppose this would mean a noop? But what about calls like the one made of LoopVectorizer for Instruction::PHI in getInstructionCost(): return

Weibull- Random Censoring
I generate random vector from Weibull distribution sampWB <-urweibull(sampleSize, shape=shape.true, scale=scale.true, lb=0, ub=Inf) how can I create subvector containing 30% of samplesize of sampWB which should be assigned as Censored data? The probability for each value in sampWB can be uniform to be included in the subvector.

[LLVMdev] SplitVectorOp from CopyFromReg
Hello, I have a kernel that's swizzling a vector inside a loop. The vector was created before the loop. The first node in the dag is an extract subvector which calls into SplitVectorOp. The issue is that the node passed to it comes from a CopyFromReg and SplitVectorOp doesn't know what to do. Is there a reason why SplitVectorOp doesn't handle CopyFromReg nodes? If not, can I submit a

Can this loop be delooped?
Hi. I have the following code in a loop. It splits a vector into subvectors of equal size. But if the size of the original vector is not an exact multiple of the desired subvector size, then the first few subvectors have one more element than the last few. I know that the cut function could be used to determine where to break up the vector, but it doesn't seem to provide control over

jarquebera_test_results
Hi! I got a loop where i print out the results of Jarque Bera tests, but I have to put, the p-values in a vector. Can you help me how to do it in an effective way and not just typing in the results to a vector? Thanks a lot, here is the code: for(i in 1:60){ print(jarque.bera.test(loghozamok[((20*(i-1))+1):(20*(i+11))]))}

[LLVMdev] unaligned AVX store gets split into two instructions
Hi, Yes. On Sandybridge 256-bit loads/stores are double pumped. This means that they go in one after the other in two cycles. On Haswell the memory ports are wide enough to allow a 256bit memory operation in one cycle. So, on Sandybridge we split unaligned memory operations into two 128bit parts to allow them to execute in two separate ports. This is also what GCC and ICC do. It is very
