mpl in spatstat
Hello all,
I'm attempting to conduct spatial analysis of trees within a plot. I want to see if the trees are spatially correlated to soil characteristics, say pH, or moisture content. I think one way to do it is with mpl, however, my soil characteristics were not taken at exactly the same locations as my trees and further, the vectors aren't the same length. I'm getting the

Summarizing levels for future commands
Hi. This will hopefully be readily understood but if not, bear with me.
I have to do a repeated analysis (in spatstat) and want to batch file it. For each of my 'runs' certain variables change. At present I am manually specifying these changes and want to automate it if possible.
Ok, I am creating an object which is comprised of 'levels' that are 'characters'. Further

limit to complex plots?
Hello all.
I am trying to create one figure, divided into 6 graphs/plots each with an inset sub-figure. I can use to layout command to generate one figure with one inset sub-figure, but cannot seem to do it for multiple figures on one page.
I've tried a test with the following code:
layout(matrix(c(1,2,3,4), nrow=2, byrow=TRUE))
plot(rnorm(10), rnorm(10))
plot(rnorm(10), rnorm(10))

Opening the 2.4 commit fest (AJAX Web UIs)
Part of the possible 2.4 addons are the new AJAX web UIs.
Sebastien Volle, an Eaton colleague and friend, started to work on
that subject (should be helped by Jonathan "Bass hero" Bonzy soon).
The very first results are there: http://seboss38.free.fr/nut/
not much ATM, but it's more a testbed to see how we can do a first iteration.
btw, try double clicking on a line to get the data

OT: SXSW Music Fest Live via Ices/Icecast
Michael Collins and I have worked our asses off in an attempt to broadcast
live Vorbis from the SXSW 2003 Music Festival this week. We're using a
large wifi network to pull the audio from several clubs over to the
convention center where we have an Xserve running Gentoo serving up the
Icecast streams.
Despite the lack of docs, we've had no problem with Ices and Icecast from
CVS. The

Opening the 2.4 commit fest
fellows,
You can now commit to the trunk everything that is scheduled for 2.4
For my part, the november month will be mostly dedicated to the following:
- commit the USB "improved maintenance" code. I'm about to finish that
one, which allows to extract USB info and generate the various USB
related files (hotplug, udev and hal). so the end of that bothering
era ^_^

Deciphering an error message
Hello,
I'm working in spatstat and having difficulty with the ppp objects. I can get a ppp object for one set of data, but with the same code applied to a second data set (all I am changing is the field identifier), I get the following error message:
Error in switch(w$type, rectangle={: internal error: some total scores are neither 0 nor 1
Any thoughts on what this means and how to correct

Spatstat
Hi all,
I am trying to install Spatstat on OpenSUSE 11.1.
install.packages("spatstat", dependencies = TRUE)
fails on the basis of various compiler packages (full message below).
I have gcc version 4.3.2, which should include gfortran and g++ - so I'm not
sure what to do!

Metropolis-Hastings Markov Chain Monte Carlo in Spatstat
I'm testing some different formulations of pairwise interaction point processes
in Spatstat (version 1.11-6) using R 2.5.0 on a Windows platform and I wish to
simulate them using the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm implemented with Spatstat.
Spatstat utilizes Fortran77 code with the preprocessor RatFor to do the
Metropolis-Hastings MCMC, but the Makefile is more complicated than any I have
