Error with 1.9.0 - Invalid HOMEDRIVE
I installed R project 1.9.0 on Windows XP. The installation went well.
Then, I rebooted. Next, I clicked the icon under Programs in the Start
menu and received this error, "Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE". I
clicked OK to the error message. The program does not start. I went to
a DOS prompt and did "echo %HOMEDRIVE%" and it returned "C:". This

afx.h... configure: error: Could not find the MFC includes
This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to compile an MFC application using
WINE. I can specify the location of the ATL includes and configure is
quite happy but it chokes when I give it the MFC includes in the same way:
./configure --with-atl-includes=/home/wade/VC98/atl/Include
--with-mfc-includes=/home/wade/VC98/mfc/Include

checking package dependencies
Dear all,
I seem to be unable to check a source package since I upgraded R to 2.3.0
(Ubuntu Linux 5.1). I get this:
* checking package dependencies ... ERROR
> tools:::.check_package_depends("/home/adi/Work/QCAGUI")
I have even tried with R-patched, same result.
My Renviron does specify the path to the installed packages (and all depending
packages are installed):

problem building an R package under Windows XP with calls to NAG C routines
Hello all,
I was able to create R packages under windows XP in the past using the
dynamic NAG C library for windows XP (Mark 6).
Recently, I changed computers and I am now using the static NAG C library
for windows XP (Mark 7) to create a simple R package (called "test") which
simply returns random numbers simulated using repetitive calls to a NAG C
routine (uniform random

Ogg Vorbis SDK.
Hi, I've started making an Ogg Vorbis SDK, as per IRC topic instructions :)
Some questions:
Its just targetting MSVC right? Not borland/whatever?
Should it install the headers/libraries in the msvc dir (c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\(Include|Lib)), or should it put them in the same directory as the document (c:\Program Files\Ogg Vorbis SDK\(Include|Lib)), and have the sample

Can't get xapian-core 1.05 to build under windows xp
Here is the output I get from nmake.
I am not a guru at getting C programs to build under windows, I never had
any troubles I could not solve on OSX :-(
I am using the released sources, I have Visual Studio 2005, I have the make
files from lemur. I read ALL the readme.txt file before starting.
And this is what I get.

Problems embedding R in a C application
Hello,
I've encountered two serious issues that have stopped me in my tracks, and I
would be most grateful to anyone who can provide some answers.
I am using the examples provided on the page "Testing the Embeddable R
Library". I am writing a C application, that I want to embedd R into (I'm
not interested in embedding my application in R, that's not an option). I'm

Win32 & C code
Hi,
I'm trying to get C code working with R. This is my first time writing C
on Windows and I'm making a mess of it. Help!
I'm following the example in Roger Peng's "An Introduction to the .C
interface to R". The C code is:
#include <R.h>
void hello(int *n){
int i;
for(i=0; i < *n; i++) {
Rprintf("Hello, world!\n");
}
}
I seem to be unable

creating a package in R
Dear R users,
I created some functions I want to convert in a package under Windows (Vista or XP).
I carefully read both "Writing R extensions" by the R Development Core Team and "Creating R packages: a tutorial" by Friedrich Leisch.
I've also installed Rtools as suggested.
These tutorials are very useful, but I'm struggling with the last step of the installation

Please correct this bugs in vorbis win32 environment
If You want to compile vorbis libraries under win32
environment you can experience some problems:
1) If you unzip vorbis libraries, you will have 3 directories:
"libogg-1.0", "libvorbis-1.0" and "vorbis-tools-1.0".
You need to rename them to "ogg", "vorbis", "vorbis-tools".
Otherwise batch files or even dsp project files, won't work.

Building a custom Windows installer
Dear r-devel list members,
It's been several years since I last built a custom Windows installer for R,
and despite my notes and the instructions in Sections 3.1.7 and D.4 of the R
Installation and Administration Manual, I've run into a problem, receiving
the following error message:

Excessive Swap with MSVC++ and Wine
Prompted by Jonathan Grant's article I've been playing with running the MSVC++
command line tools under Wine. In particular I'm trying to compile and link a
large DLL - about 4M in size.
The problem is the amount of memory used by link.exe. At the moment, with 256M
of real memory and 1G of swap I quickly run out. Under Windows2000, on the
same machine, the link takes a long time
