can store array or hash in cookies?
Hi
According to rdoc: value - the cookie''s value or list of values (as an
array).
So, I can use arrays, briliant.
But.... It does not work (at least on webrick)
I wrote a controller:
def check_cookies_first
cookies[:chef] =
{:value => ["first", "second"], :expires => Time.local
(2020)}
render_text ":)"
end

RCurl and cookies in POST requests
Hello.
I know that it's usually possible to write cookies to a cookie
file by removing the curl handle and doing a gc() call. I can do
this with getURL(), but I just can't obtain the same results with
postForm().
If I use:
curlHandle <- getCurlHandle(cookiefile=FILE, cookiejar=FILE)
and then do:
getURL(http://example.com/script.cgi, curl=curlHandle)
rm(curlHandle)
gc()
it's

How to set cookies in RCurl
Hi,
I am trying to access a website and read its content. The website is a
restricted access website that I access through a proxy server (which
therefore requires me to enable cookies). I have problems in allowing Rcurl
to receive and send cookies.
The following lines give me:
library(RCurl)
library(XML)
url <- "http://www.theurl.com"
content <- readHTMLTable(url)

scraping with session cookies
Hi, I am starting coding in r and one of the things that i want to do is to
scrape some data from the web.
The problem that I am having is that I cannot get passed the disclaimer
page (which produces a session cookie). I have been able to collect some
ideas and combine them in the code below but I dont get passed the
disclaimer page.
I am trying to agree the disclaimer with the postForm and write

RCurl and Google Scholar's EndNote references
Hi!
I've performed a Google Scholar Search using a query, let's say "Frank
Harrell", and parsed the links to the EndNote references from the resulting
HTML code. Now I'd like to download all the references automatically. For
this, I have tried to use RCurl, but I can't seem to get it working: I
always get error code "403 Forbidden" from the web server.

Prototype & Cookies
Has anyone written any "cookie" class using prototype?
Basically, what I am looking for is if there is an easy way to store mutiple cookies in a single cookie using hash or something - easy writing and retrieval (updating the cookie value).
For eg -
If I had 25 cookies for my domain 5 of the cookies would either get dropped or not be set (as there is a limit of 20 cookies per domain).

Cookie Sessions in Merb?
I like the cookie sessions that Rails edge has - they make sense,
they''re fast, easy.
For those that don''t know: the default session mechanism is to give
developers a Hash called session. To store this object between
requests it Marshals the session object and sends the object itself
(now as a bitstream) back to clients to store in their cookie file. To
prevent users from

Konqueror and the Cookiejar
Since upgrading to 7.0 Stable, I've noticed an occasional problem with
konqueror. I've been recompiling my ports for the past few weeks and have
noticed that some sites are complaining about cookies not being enabled.
Further investigation has revealed that if I start konqueror from the
terminal prompt, I can get an error message:
khtml (dom) Can't communicate with the cookiejar!

JavaScript Prototype Help?
I have a form with a text area. I want to have an observer watch the
text area and update a div with the running count of characters in
the text area. I tried "onchange" but that doesn''t update until you
leave the text area. I was able to get it working using AJAX, but
it''s silly to make a needless round trip to the server, when the page

Best way to execute timed actions?
I''ve seen this come up a few times before on this list but never felt
it got a satisfactory answer. What is the best way to execute timed
actions? Examples include sending an email each week, calculating
interest each day, or cleaning up your database or server files.
This wiki page has some ideas, but these seem a bit extreme.

Undefined method `signed' for #<Rack::Test::CookieJar>
Hello,
In my integration test, I want to simulate the user cookie is set. I store
an authentication token as a stored cookie.
So in my test. I write:
cookies.signed[:authentication_token] = user.authentication_token
Unforunately, it sends me a Undefined method `signed'' for
#<Rack::Test::CookieJar> error.
What should I do?

Possible Rails Security Issue?
I have an e-commerce site and users check out with a form. The
results of that form are sent to a "confirm your order" page via
POST. I take great pains to NEVER store the full credit card number
on my server--just the last 4 digits. I was very surprised to find
that by default Rails will record POST requests with parameters in
the production.log. And those parameters

RCurl cookiejar
R-helpers,
When I use cURL in the Terminal:
curl --cookie-jar cookie.txt --url "http://corpusdelespanol.org/x.asp" --user-agent "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0" --location --include
a cookie file "cookie.txt" is saved to my working directory. However, when I try what I think is the equivalent command R with RCurl:

:session_expires usage
Hi everyone, I''m new to Rails and web development. I just bought up the
Agile book and I''ve got a question about the :session_expires option.
In the book, page 317, it says the :session_expires "option should
probably not be used." Does anyone know why? The book doesn''t explain
or give any indication as to why.
In an application I''m working on

problem with cookies in tests (TDD)
The problem I''m having is that I can''t seem to destroy the cookies and
assert that they were indeed destroyed inside the test.
The code to do this does work - the cookies are created, and are
destroyed when this is done in a browser, but I can''t seem to make the
test pass.

Maybe a bug in Cookie:cookies
Hi man,
Thank you very much for your good work.
I think there may be a bug in Mechanize 0.6.3. Cookie:cookies (cookie.rb:L83

=> if url.path =~ /^#{@jar[domain][name].path}/
if @jar[domain][name].expires.nil?
