Sweaving single master file to get multiple individualised reports
Hi
Apologies in advance if I've missed something obvious. I have read the
Sweave manual, the first article in R News, looked at the Help pages,
googled Sweave and words like loop, output, files, multiple, done much
the same on R site search (in case I missed something on Google) and I
couldn't find exactly what I'm after.

Monitoring transcoding and other heavy activities
Hi,
often on this list I read about transcoding as the heaviest activity for an
Asterisk server, together with high IRQ rate (especially with Digium
cards...).
Is there a way to monitor if Asterisk is engaged (by mistake or by design)
in transcoding or any other heavy activity?
Or a checklist to follow to diagnose these 'bad' behaviours?
Thanks

Lower bit rates crashing ices
Hello,
I'm using ices-2.0.1 as part of an experimental art/music project in
which I am creating internet-based feedbackloops running between a
single server running ices, and multiple servers running icecast. Part
of what I'm interested in are the artifacts created through the
compression process. Because of that, I'm trying to tweak ices to do the
heaviest compression possible on the

Too Many Open Files problem...
I have a problem on the two heaviest-used Samba servers in my company. They
both are exhibiting the same problem, just in different ways.
Stargazer is my "Main" File and LDAP directory server - it functions as the
"PDC" for my network. It's running Red Hat Enterprise Linux "ES" 2.1, a
recompiled custom Red Hat "ES" version of Samba 2.2.7 (to add LDAP

Percentiles/Quantiles with Weighting
Hi All,
I am looking at applications of percentiles to time sequenced data. I had
just been using the quantile function to get percentiles over various
periods, but am more interested in if there is an accepted (and/or
R-implemented) method to apply weighting to the data so as to weigh recent
data more heavily.
I wrote the following function, but it seems quite inefficient, and not
really very

[PATCH] Refactor silk_LPC_analysis_filter() & Optimize celt_fir_permit_overflow() for ARM NEON

I prefer to create a function named silk_fir() with optimization to do the
calculation when USE_CELT_FIR=0.
xcorr_kernel() itself is great and provides many gains. The only issue is
that calling it in a

Slow RAID Check/high %iowait during check after updgrade from CentOS 6.5 -> CentOS 7.2
I did some additional testing - I stopped Kafka on the host, and kicked off a disk check, and it ran at the expected speed overnight. I started kafka this morning, and the raid check's speed immediately dropped down to ~2000K/Sec.
I then enabled the write-back cache on the drives (hdparm -W1 /dev/sd*). The raid check is now running between 100000K/Sec and 200000K/Sec, and has been for several

Slow RAID Check/high %iowait during check after updgrade from CentOS 6.5 -> CentOS 7.2
All of our Kafka clusters are fairly write-heavy. The cluster in question is our second-heaviest ? we haven?t yet upgraded the heaviest, due to the issues we?ve been experiencing in this one.
Here is an iostat example from a host within the same cluster, but without the RAID check running:

use of R in big companies (references) & R-support esp in Germany
Dear R users,
sorry for this general email and I am sure it has been asked
way too many times.
IT departements in big companies only want to support the big
standards. Whatever big standards means apart from being expensive.
We are in the process of trying to get a risk management project
for a big conservative company in Germany. As part of the project
we would use R to run simulations,

Pinch Hitter 1 is playable now, AOL Video progress
Hello!
With today's swfdec, Pinch Hitter 1 can actually be played:

Pinch Hitter 2 still cannot get beyond the "namecheck":
http://www.addictinggames.com/pinchhitter2.html
Pinch Hitter 1 used to consume all memory in the system. AOL Video used
to do the same, but now it doesn't do anything bad (although it still

R binary for Solaris 5.6 (sparc) available?
Dear R gurus,
I have some problems to compile R on Solaris 5.6.
I wonder if somebody has a compiled version he could
email me as tar.gz. Many thanks in advance.
Ciao
Armin
P.S.: Below you see the error message I get
when compiling, i.e. make R

`FFTab.h' is up to date.
(cd ../include; make FFDecl.h)

Paste and namespace
Hi, my doubt is very simple. I'm sure I've seen someone using something
like this before, but unfortunatelly my searches in the archives were useless.
Well, I have some objects called after a name that has a number attached to
it,
varying. Let's say I have:

I would like to access these objects using a for(), in which I could do

trivial axis question?
Hi,
probably there's some parameter I don't know how to set.
Using R 0.64 on a Sun sparc, I use the following command
axis(1, at=xspos(times), labels=result, cex.axis=0.7)
where result is sth. like c("May", "Jun" ,"Jul" ,"Aug", "Sep", ...)
Now it plots it fine.. but when two xspos are too (?) close together
the label gets dropped.

border option working in barplots? (R0.63)
Dear R users,
How do you set the color of the border in barplots?
On my screen
barplot(tN, col='gray', border='yellow')
looks like grey bars -- with black borders (not yellow).
Trying it with a postscript device gives the same result.
Cheers,
Armin
