HMisc describe -- error with dates
Hello, I am trying to use HMisc describe on a data frame. I have specified certain variables as dates using, for example: df1$aidsdate <- dates(aidsdate,format="day.mon.year", origin=c(month = 1, day = 1, year = 1960)) When I use describe on the dataframe I get this error: Error in Ops.dates(weights, x) : * not defined for chron objects Has anyone had this problem? upData levels in Hmisc
Dear listserve members, especially Prof. Harrell: I am trying to create a factor variable that has fewer levels than the original. I have a factor: >rosa$risk1 [1] 2 2 5 1 ... [1799] 3 3 1 3 1 6 3 3 1 5 3 5 3 3 3 0 3 3 3 1 1 3 Levels: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 But when I do this: rosa2 <- upData(rosa,

Estimates for proportions
Hello, I need to get a point estimate and SD for a proportion, but the subjects' data are not binary---they are proportions (of doses received). That is, I have a proportion for each subject. In the past I have analysed these data as a continuous (normal) variable, but I really don't want CIs over 100%. This seems like basic stuff, but I don't remember learning it and it's

Unreadable labels
Playing around with examples from MASS4, I found a font problem in the mosaicplot in R-2.3.0. It doesn't happen in other plots. Running this example from MASS4, page 326... library(MASS) caith1 <- as.matrix(caith) names(dimnames(caith1)) <- c("eyes", "hair") mosaicplot(caith1, color = TRUE) ...I get an image as attached. The column and row labels are unreadable. It

winhelp.exe - tiny, unreadable fonts (SOLVED)
The default wine help reader, winhelp.exe, seems to have only a single font that it will display help files with. Unfortunately, this font appears really tiny and unreadable on my 1600x1200 screen. And there seems to be no easy way to change this font without diving in to the source (which is what I ultimately did). In what follows I will first describe my unsuccessful attempts to increase

incorrect behavior: hide unreadable option in conjunction with user ACLs
Hi guys, we are using samba 3.0.4 as domain member server (security=ADS) in our Active Directory Domain. In order not to compromise social peace, we use POSIX ACLs in conjunction with the hide unreadable option to hide folders/files from users. I'll show you an example to explain the problem: I'm the user "SCHARRNET+M006U122" (SCHARRNET=domain suffix). I'm connecting to

[PATCH] appliance: Ignore unreadable dbus helper programs.
This avoids an error where the appliance cannot start up because this dbus helper script (which is never used) is unreadable by non-root. Why do we have unreadable binaries in Fedora at all? You may wonder: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2009-October/msg00987.html Maintaining a blacklist like this is generally a bad thing. We should change this code so it automatically

[PATCH] build: remove unreadable files after filtering
Move the removal of the files which don't exist or cannot be read, doing it after the filtering with excludefiles and hostfiles files. This avoid stat'ing files which will be excluded later anyway, hence reducing the I/O during a supermin build phase. --- src/build.ml | 32 ++++++++++++++++---------------- 1 file changed, 16 insertions(+), 16 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/build.ml

Hide Unreadable and user ACLs
I'm not sure if this is a bug or Working As Designed. I'm hoping someone can clarify for me. Brief environment: SLES 9, SP3; samba-3.0.20b-3.4 We use Posix ACLs for a more granular control of permissions on our shares. We also use "hide unreadable = yes" for one share (we'd prefer to use it for more but we can't due to this issue). With "hide unreadable =

Hide unreadable, strange problem
The "hide unreadable = yes" option gives strange results with samba 3.x. Everything works fine when the server runs as a domain controller. Users see the directories they are supposed to (unix group permission) in the share. Turning off domain control and setting "security = DOMAIN", however, hides every directory in the share unless you are an admin user. I can cd to the

Problem with "hide unreadable = yes" in Samba 2.2.5
Hello, I'm new to this list, so please excuse, if my problem as already be solved or is "handmade". My Question: We set up Samba 2.2.5 with ACLs and everything works fine. We want to use a very flat hirarchie, so we have one share for the users and one share for the groups. To prevent our people from feeling uncomfortable, we want to hide the directories to which they don't

howto achieve 'hide unreadable' for msdfs symlinks
hi, on a samba domain member file server i'm using dfs root shares with multiple msdfs symlinks pointing to other shares (on the same server), which works fine. These linked shares have different access rights, therefore a user might have access to one linked share but not to another. Is there any option to hide msdfs-symlinks to shares that a user cannot read? (the same as 'hide

Acronis True Image or Clonezilla
I want to clone a small (80GB) disk on my CentOS server to a large (1.5TB) disk, as smart has been giving me warnings of unreadable sectors. Both disks are Western Digital, and WD has a WD version of Acronis True Image. I'm not sure whether to use this or Clonezilla. My worry with Acronis is that I want to keep the original disk, and I'm not sure from the documentation if True Image

"hide unreadable files" also hides readable files
Hello We have a Samba 3.0.11 Fileserver running on Solaris and joined to an Active Directory. I have shares, with many directories, and I want to hide the directories, people are not allowed to access anyway. So I engaged the "hide unreadable files" option. This basically works. The Problem arises, when the user is logged on locally (not authenticated to the Domain) and mounts the

Unreadable character.
Hi, I'm running Wine in SuSE 8.2. Unfortunately, I cannot read the character displayed on the Windows application I would like to run using Wine (the program itself can be loaded). In the other words, the characters are completely unreadable (the characters are just displayed as a sequence of "small boxes"). Additionally, here is the information I received when I run Windows (I use

hide unreadable
Hello everyone I am trying to use "hide unreadable = yes" in my [global] section and having some problems - I make a share and then add "valid users = @MYDOMAIN+group" - this works to protect access, but it is still visible to non-priveleged users (even though they cant get in) - is there something I need to do to make these shares hidden? Thanks, Hamish
