help files and vignettes
Hi all, I'm writing a vignette for my package, and I would like to include some of the package help files in there as well. Is there an easy way of doing so? I tried using R CMD Rdconv to generate latex files from .Rd files but I am not sure how to include these into a .Rnw file (ie the vignette source). The resulting file from Rdconv do not readily compile using latex ... The other option I

ActiveState Perl, cygwin and R (was: cygwin tar?)
Hello! I have just read mails in thread <http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04a/0583.html> about problems with Cygwin and Rtools. I had the same problems and kept just the newest cygwin1.dll and things seem OK now. However I currently hit the problem with Perl (I have ActiveState and Cygwin Perl installed). When I tried to work with 'Rdconv' in Cygwin I get the following: $

Intermediate LaTeX output generated by R CMD Rd2dvi
Is there any way of getting just the LaTex output which R CMD Rd2dvi generates on the way to produces a .dvi file, which could then be incoorporated into another document? Writing R documentation
Greetings, I used latex type code in my Rd files. The pdf version using R CMD Rd2dvi --output=PKtools.pdf --pdf --title="PKtools" PKtools man came out quite nice. However, my current HTML version does not tex the latex so there is latex code in the files and looks bad. example problem code: AIC$_c$ or \begin{itemize} \item NLME: \begin{itemize} \item population level:

Using \leq for <= in Rd files
Hi, When writing formulae in Rd files I use \leq to get a less-than-or-equal-to sign, as this is what the LaTeX references I consulted suggested. This works correctly for the PDF output (Rcmd Rd2dvi.sh --pdf), however when the Rd file is converted to text or html this command is converted to "<=q". A workaround is to use \le instead of \leq which works with my LaTeX distribution

texi2dvi: option "clean" also deletes the generated pdf file
Dear expeRts, below are two examples of using texi2dvi. The problem becomes clear from the second example: on cleaning, texi2dvi also deletes the generated .pdf file. Is there a solution? Cheers, Marius ## Example 1: texi2dvi cleans fine, without deleting the generated .pdf require(tools) sink(file="myLaTeXFile1.tex") cat("\\documentclass{article}\n")

Suppose I have a Master.Rnw file that looks something like this: \documentclass[12pt]{mypaper} \usepackage[margin=1in]{geometry} \usepackage{setspace} \usepackage{url} \usepackage{indentfirst} \usepackage{fancyhdr} \usepackage{Sweave} \pagestyle{fancy} \lhead{sonographic rectal diameter and ADHD} \rhead{ } \usepackage{abbrevs} %\usepackage{natbib} %\usepackage{apacite}

Sweave trims console output in "tex" mode
Hi In the example .Rnw file below, only the newline between c and d is visible in the resulting .tex file after running R CMD Sweave. What is the reason for this behavior? Newlines are important in LaTeX and should be preserved. In particular, this behavior leads to incorrect LaTeX code generated when using tikz(console=TRUE) inside a Sweave chunk, as shown in the tikzDevice vignette. A

dynamic reports with sweave: error when compiling the tex-file
Hello, I took my first steps in dynamic reports with Gnu R and used sweave(). I therefore run Sweave() with an example of Friedrich Leisch, starting like this: \ documentclass [ a4paper ]{ article } \ title { Sweave Example 1} \ author { Friedrich Leisch } \ begin { document } \ maketitle and so on. It worked very well but when I tried to compile the latex file I get this error message: !

The TeX-source for the package manual.
I have noted that the later versions of Rcmd check cleans out the directory pkg.Rcheck so that only package-manual.log and package-manual.pdf are left. Formerly the package-manual.tex was around too --- very handy for various purposes. Is there a way to generate the .tex - version of the manual for a package? br. Sweave produces gibberish instead of apostrophe in pdf
Dear All, I try to use Sweave to make a document. But when I use the Sweave() command on it and build a pdf with pdflatex (3.141592-1.40.3) my apostrophes are replaced by some gibberish (an 'a' with a hat on it, a capital A with a arc pointing upwards on it and a capital Y with two points on it). If I manually replace the apostrophes using the keyboard, I get a different looking

Question on trying to build R 2.11.1 on Tru64(aka OSF1)
First I tried 'setenv R_SHELL /usr/local/bin/bash', as bash is the weapon of choice for the faculty wishing to use R, then ran ./configure as before. The ./configure output line using as R_SHELL for scripts ... /usr/local/bin/bash would seem to indicate that the R_SHELL environment variable was recognized and acknowledged. However, I got the same build error: gnumake[2]: Entering

Rd and guillemots
First of all, thanks to those who've set up R to work so smoothly with Miktex-- even a total Latex bunny like me got it to work instantly, so that for the first time I'm able to run my Rd files through the Latex side of RCMD CHECK. Now the question/buglet. One of my Rd files contains the following: \code{mlazy( <<objname1>>, <<objname2>>, <<etc>>)}

Sweave does not parse \Sexpr{}
Hi, has anybody encountered and solved the following problem? I continued work now on a different computer where I have also used Sweave successfully before. I can run Sweave() and it generates a .tex file. All code chunks are processed and translated to Latex perfectly fine but somehow only the \Sexpr{} tags are not parsed. This is an example .Rnw: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{Sweave}

Sweave, lty = 3 line incorect in pdf output
I'm having a problem with dotted lines (lty = 3) in the pdf output in documents generated with Sweave. In the displayed pdf, the dotted line does not show up and in the printed output, it is there but does not seem to respect the lwd argument, for example, it is very faint despite using lwd = 3. The dotted line is correct in a quartz window and if I save the Quartz window to a pdf and
