Animal Morphology: Deriving Classification Equation with Linear Discriminat Analysis (lda)
Fellow R Users:
I'm not extremely familiar with lda or R programming, but a recent editorial
review of a manuscript submission has prompted a crash cousre. I am on this
forum hoping I could solicit some much needed advice for deriving a
classification equation.
I have used three basic measurements in lda to predict two groups: male and
female. I have a working model, low Wilk's lambda,

run latent class analysis with R
What's the best approach to running latent class analysis with R? I've downloaded both randomLCA and poLCA packages, but I am interesting in running a standard LCA with individual records (not frequency table) as input data.

GLM
Hello,
I am trying to perform a glm analysis on a 68x13113 matrix (named
data.spect). The first column corresponds to the predictor
(data.spect[,1]) and the rest to the response variables
(data.spect[,2:13113]). When I try this code
glmObject <- glm(data.spect[,2:13113]~data.spect[,1])
I get the following error:

generating many matrices
I'd like to generate many matrices (let's say 100 matrices of 4x4), of which
diagonal elements are being drawn from each set of sample of known
distribution.
What would be the best way? I've been trying to find any previous threads
for this topic, but haven't been able to find one.
Thanks. Kevin

row sum question
Dear helpers,
I'm using R version 2.8.0.
Suppose that I have a small data set like below.
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4]
a 1 1 0 0
b 0 1 1 0
c 1 1 1 0
d 0 1 1 1
First, I'd like to find row sum of values uniquely present in each row, but
only sequentially from the top row, meaning that if the value is shown in
the above row(s) already, the

You got some 'splaininn to do Lucy ;-)
We just had a security application vendor come in. We asked about Linux
support and he said that putting a security application on top of an
insecure OS was useless. When I asked what he meant by insecure he replied
that Linux does not have a true Auditing capability - as opposed to HP-UX &
Solaris which they do support. Can anyone explain to me what he was talking
about?
Thanks,

R example of Mahalanobis, Kolmogrov, ROC, Gini, Delta
Dear R helpers:
I have another question regarding "R" command. It is also measuring Credit
Scoring.
I need to measure the classifying method for customer's credit score. (ex.
regression line by Fisher)
If credit card company already classify their customers credit :
Good customers / Bad customers
[by using regression line; ex) inside of line: Good/ outside: Bad]
And I found

Do I get some help?
Dear helper.
I am a student in SFSU.
I had a class that introduce a new open-source "R" in this semester.
It's, however, hard to understand how to make "R" command.
Especially, at this time we( including my friend) have to explain some
concepts
(e.g. mahalanobis distance, kolmogorov-smirnow statistics, ROC curve, Gini
coefficient, and the delta approach)
We have to

the :category of "1"
then if i wanted to enter the :title "Title 1" in the database again BUT

Cox ridge regression
Hello,
I have questions regarding penalized Cox regression using survival
package (functions coxph() and ridge()). I am using R 2.8.0 on Ubuntu
Linux and survival package version 2.35-4.
Question 1. Consider the following example from help(ridge):
> fit1 <- coxph(Surv(futime, fustat) ~ rx + ridge(age, ecog.ps, theta=1), ovarian)
As I understand, this builds a model in which `rx' is

I hope someone can take a look at this and give me a little push to get
me past this logjam.
I've been running icecast + ices-0.4 + a perl application developed
internally which runs an mp3 stream for a number of years.
I am migrating my server from CentOS to ubuntu so I can upgrade to Perl
